The pledege is NOT an “OATH”, it is a fraternal “PROMISE.” There IS a difference. While I can’t reveal the ceremony, NOWHERE will you find the word “swear”, the term “swear to God,” “solomnly swear,” or anything of the like. Rather, you “promise on your honor as a Catholic gentleman.” That is a very, very, intentional choice of words.
