As a “young knight” I love the traditional regalia and despise the new one. It takes away all of the uniqueness of the traditional knights imagery. I just made my 4th degree this year and just bought a tux so I could do color guard…which of course makes me doubly upset.

They’d probably be MUCH more interested in that than the new uniform; I’m a young man and I find the old uniform to be much more attractive. I’m not saying I don’t support a uniform update, but I’d prefer it to be tasteful, especially for what is supposed to be a color guard.

That being said, I don’t have that much time and energy invested into what uniform the 4th degree knights wear.
Thank God my Dad who became a 4Th degree after 30 years as Knight didn’t live to see this.
Nothing screams Knight like a Beret.
I’ve heard the organization has fallen on hard times and this is the type of move you make just before you die.

The photos with the whole groups of guys wearing the new outfit actually make it look not as bad as I thought based on the mannequin pictures I previously saw.

I’ll have to ask my dad if he knows about the change. In his small, rural parish, pretty much every guy is a knight and every knight is a 4th degree. It’s just what they do.

I’m not necessarily opposed to a change in general, but to make such a drastic change without polling the councils seems like not the best approach to bring people on board with it.

The old outfits were very distinctive.

Yes, the group picture at what appears to be a Eucharistic Congress actually look nice. But those are a different group, and they have the same color pants as the jackets. The K of C are saying grey pants.

I am pleased to report that our membership grew for the 44th consecutive year to a record high of 1,918,122 brother Knights. Soon, we will number more than 2 million men.”

Supreme Knight Carl Anderson noted the Order’s record levels of charity, with over $175 million in donations

Which group picture? The upper one from [post=14829749]post 35[/post]? That is, indeed, the new uniform in its debut at the Supreme Convention Mass last week. (The navy blue of the blazer is difficult to distinguish from the dark gray of the trousers unless I tilt my monitor)

And I will admit: That group of (I presume) well-prepared, well-rehearsed, and well-tailored gentlemen do not look too bad.

I, on the other hand, would look like a fat old man in a beret and with nothing to do with his hands. 🤷 (A cape and sword cover a multitude of imperfections :twocents:)

And also: Yes, at least as disconcerting as the style of the uniform is the fact that it was imposed without warning, discussion, nor debate.

:twocents:
