Bishop Stephen Blaire of Stockton, CA, also Chairman of the Committee on Domestic Justice and Human Development of the USCCB, issued a strong Labor Day statement in support of workers rights and pointing to the vital role of government in overcoming poverty and advancing human dignity. A great summary of the Church’s social teaching on these subjects.

…millions of our sisters and brothers are without work, raising children in poverty and haunted by fears about their economic security. These are not just economic problems, but also human tragedies, moral challenges, and tests of our faith.
So true! 🙂

Supporting and belonging to Unions such as SEIU and others who force their members through their dues to - - - financially support politicans who vote for ABORTION and GAY-MARRIAGE is immoral.

This needs to be more clearly and publically stated by the USCCB Committee on Domestic Justice and Human Development.

In addition, many workers in the USA are FORCED to belong to Unions to retain their jobs - which violates FREEDOM.

Agree. I refuse to join a union, for a variety of reasons.
