I really like Lady Gaga’s Born this Way. But I think there’s a problem with it.

First a little backstory, Gaga is a Christian -and a lot of her songs have to do with the Church (Alejandro, while wrong in moral teaching by a long shot, may be a good example. I’ve never hear it fully, but read an interpretation of it).

Born This Way, at first, seemed innocent. It had a reference to God right at the beginning (“Whether you love him or Capital H I M…”) and even has the word Church hidden in there. Anyways, at first and for a while I thought the meaning was “love who you are, you’re yourself, etc” but apparently, according to one person, it encourages homosexuality -which is clearly a no no. But it’s hard to tell… As the song can fit so many titles.

Also, she sings, “Don’t be a drag, just be a queen.” since that sounds like she’s discouraging drag queens (men dressing up as women), isn’t it discouraging homosexuality? Or is it the opposite?

It’s a good song, but it has an iffy undertone. Should I delete it from my collection? Is it a mortal sin to listen to it? Thanks

The song clearly approves of gay lifestyles…

“No matter gay, straight or bi
lesbian, transgendered life
I’m on the right track, baby
I was born to survive
No matter black, white or beige
chola or orient made
I’m on the right track, baby
I was born to be brave”

What makes you say that Gaga is a Christian? I’ve never heard her identify as a Christian. She claims to believe in God, but not any formal religion.

I happen to think that she’s very musically gifted and I like many of her songs…but I happen to think this particular one is terrible…as a song, not based on it’s lyrics…

I don’t know what she is now, but she was raised Roman Catholic…she’s a fallen away Catholic.

I dont like this song, and much of what Gaga puts into her music is well out of line with RC doctrine…She has admitted to being bisexual and this is pushing the lifestyle to the next level.

I was aware of that…and that she went through Catholic schooling in NY…but I’ve not heard her say anything suggesting Christian leanings…she’s talked of being spiritual and believing in God, in vague terms, but has been openly critical of organised religions. She’s very young still so it will be interesting to see how her thoughts develop.

find most of her music to be something ess than what a Christian would listen too. no doubt she’s musically talented, but I hate how morally loose she seems to be as reflected in her songs.

also, I believe she dececrates the monastic habit in the song “Alejandro” (even though she’s not wearing a real habit).

Bah, her best song by far is “Bad Romance.” This new song, “Born This Way,” sounds like a cheesey Madonna rip-off.

And yes, the song is obviously about the fact that people are born with sexual preferences and that you should love and accept yourself. The reason that the lyrics support this message is, apparently, because “He * makes no mistakes.” You could say that, in theological terms, it is a repudiation of the idea of original sin, and an affirmation of the far more sensible idea that people are fine the way that they are, that they don’t have to try to “fix” themselves or become something that they are not.*

There is no scientific evidence to prove what she’s saying is true.
It’s a load of fluff to appeal to her LGBT fans and sell her music.

quick note she’s claiming to "believe in God"well the BIBLE says the devils also believe & tremble…it’s better to love & believe in Him

WWorld: I’ve never listened to the song. Its discouraging homosexuality IMO.In as much as you’ve told me its OK.If it were the opposite of what you think it wouldn’t be a mortal sin to listen to it unless it could influence you in some way to commit a mortal sin .

You are making a subtle argument from ignorance here. You say there is no evidence that people are born gay. I don’t think Fox news would put any spin on something like this to prove that people are born gay. Rather, I think they share your opinion and would be more likely to spin it to disprove the notion that people are born gay. Regardless of politics I will now provide you with the information on the subject

Let me know what you think. I know it’s just mice but we do share a common ancestor (i think a pope said evolution was OK)

So Sue me. I am 41 years old and LOOOVE Lady Ga Ga. Yes she is a fallen away Catholic, Yes she does promote tolerance for Homosexuals. Not so much in her music though. That woman has a voice, escpecially live, that is out of this world! For those that say, “thats not what a Christian should listen too!” I would ask if you listen to say…Bruce Springsteen, or John Melencamp, who promote a more liberal socialist ideology. To each their own. Katy Perry started out as a Christian artist as I recall. And she does not have half the talent the Lady Ga GA has. 😉

Lady Gaga is a huge gay supporter … HUGE
At her concerts she always donates at least 10k in different organizations for gay youth…
there is nothing evil about this …
she donates to funds that support teenagers who have been thrown out on the street … she donates to support groups that seek to reach out to gay teenagers who have been rejected by their faith and families and are at high risk for suicide -
She supports anti bullying groups …
She is saving lives …
And if that is not “Gods Work” than I don’t know what is!

She does promote tolerance … 110 percent.
She is wonderful … she uses her influences as a pop star to help gay teens.

So…Hypothetically, I wonder if I gave a donation to a gay rugby team. would that be a mortal sin? God bless Lady Ga Ga! I did not know about all these other charities. I shall have to investigate. Thank you my friend. 👍

Even if said Gay rugby team was going to England to beat the British?! I would think that would be patriotic! 😉 I particularly like this pic of her. She is adorable! 👍

Its a song about tolerance here are more of the lyrics

Give yourself prudence and love your friends
Subway kid, rejoice the truth
In the religion of the insecure
I must be myself, respect my youth

A different lover is not a sin
Believe capital H-I-M (hey, hey, hey)
I love my life, I love this record and
Mi amore vole fe yah

Mi amore vole fe yah - means “my love needs faith”
(its spoken in the south of Italy)

She is saying God made everyone perfectly love who you are ect … loving someone of the same sex is a not sin -
