I really like Lady Gaga’s Born this Way. But I think there’s a problem with it.
First a little backstory, Gaga is a Christian -and a lot of her songs have to do with the Church (Alejandro, while wrong in moral teaching by a long shot, may be a good example. I’ve never hear it fully, but read an interpretation of it).
Born This Way, at first, seemed innocent. It had a reference to God right at the beginning (“Whether you love him or Capital H I M…”) and even has the word Church hidden in there. Anyways, at first and for a while I thought the meaning was “love who you are, you’re yourself, etc” but apparently, according to one person, it encourages homosexuality -which is clearly a no no. But it’s hard to tell… As the song can fit so many titles.
Also, she sings, “Don’t be a drag, just be a queen.” since that sounds like she’s discouraging drag queens (men dressing up as women), isn’t it discouraging homosexuality? Or is it the opposite?
It’s a good song, but it has an iffy undertone. Should I delete it from my collection? Is it a mortal sin to listen to it? Thanks
