=CMatt25;7423888]Pat, I of course sincerely appreciate your efforts. But let us try to remember the faith of many is that Jn 6 speaks figuratively in the sense of eating His flesh = believing in His death and resurrection. And in vs 63 after grumbling by some folks, when Christ then says it is the Spirit He is talking about, He with those words had wrapped it all up. To those believers, there is one choice. Believing in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. The Son Whom came down from heaven. Suffered, died and was buried. Resurrected. Ascended into heaven and sitteth at the right hand of the Father until He comes again. Faith is faith. God bless you as well my friend. I hope you had a most blessed Christmas season with continued blessing throughout the new year. Peace.
Hi CMatt,
Certainly I am aware of that. My question is charity and sincerity is HOW can one hold such a view when Jesus Christ Himself tells us differently, and it is supported by FIVE different NT authors?
***John 6 verse 63 is refuted by Christ Himself in John 6:47-55 ***
Truly, truly, I [Jesus] say to you, he who believes has eternal life.** I am the bread of life. ** Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that a man may eat of it and not die. I [Jesus] am the living bread which came down from heaven; if any one eats of this bread, he will live for ever; and **the bread which I shall give for the life of the world is my flesh." **[52] The
Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?" [53] So Jesus said to them, **"Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you; **[54] he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.
For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed!"
***In verse 52 the Jews make the same statement you make AND LOOK AT THE RESPONCE OF YOUR GOD in verse 53… Like you they assume in ERROR that Christ is speaking of His Cardinal Body;…NOT!!! Jesus is Speaking of His SOOM to be GLORIFIED AND RISEN BODY THST STILL EXIST TODAY AND FOR ETERNITY! Nevertheless REAL! THINNK ABOUT THIS…GOD CAN NOT NEITHER LIE OR DECEIVE!
**Note further that Jesus does not say “OPPS,” ***I didn’t mean it that way, not my cardnial body; Jesus lets those WITH LACK OF FAITH AND UNDERSTANDING
[necesary for salvation] ABANDON HIM.
The turned to the Apostles and asked: [Jn. 6: 6-69] [66] After this many of his disciples drew back and no longer went about with him. Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also wish to go away?” **Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life; **[69] and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.” **
The terms “Breaking The Bread” was the early term for the Most holy Euchrist…
Luke.24: 35 “Then they told what had happened on the road, and how he was known to them in the breaking of the bread.”
Acts.2: 42 "And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And day by day, attending the temple together and **breaking bread in their homes, ***they partook of food with glad and generous hearts, *
NOTE: Eathing is spoken of seperately from "the Breaking of the Bread!"and further HOMES were th first churches! Also LOOK UP 1 Cor. 11: 26-29… Culd not be for eating just bread and drinking ordinary wine.
FRIEND, one either BELIEVES WHAT GOD TEACHES adthe Bible affirms or SERIOUSLY risk not getting to heaven.
God’s continued Blessings, may He grant you RIGHT Understanding…
Catholic belief is 2,000 years old and your’s is how old? Our Faith is from God himself
