I mainly got a laugh out of Dan Brown being considered a good author. He doesn’t have any writing skills. What he write is so completely shallow. I mean, here he is trying to make Mary Magdeline this supior being, and the one main female charactor in his book is a complete idiot. He’s no good at story telling either.

I don’t laugh at people who think making fun of Jesus isn’t a threat. No, I don’t believe Dan Brown is the biggest threat, but it’s not good to take his writing lightly. While I may detest his poor penmanship, I detest his mocking My Lord and Savior even more.

Have you been to confession and confessed that you read a book that mocked our Lord and Savior? Do you think perhaps that is one of those unforgiveable sins? I suspect that even the scourging and crucifixion were mild compared to being mocked by Dan Brown.

Have you considered offering your awesome analytical skills to any publishers? After all if Dan Browns publisher had your expertise they would ever had made the huge mistake of publishng the works of such a terrible author.

I read the book so I would know what everyone was talking about. I didn’t want to be the person trashing something I didn’t read. Now I can trash it all I want:thumbsup:
Hey if people want to read lousy writing, writing a 5 year old could understand, that is their business. As for me, I stick with books like Crime and Punishment that actualy so stimulate the mind.

P.S. Sinse you are the one who brought up comfession, have you gone to confession for defending Dan Browns work? Isn’t that considered a serious sin?:confused:
 
I find it amusing that some people here could probably find anti-Catholicism in an episode of Sesame Street and whine about it, while on the same Boards madly bashing Protestants, Mormons, Moslems, SDA’s, liberals, and other Catholics.

Did you stop readings the first time the book mocked Our Lord and Savior? If not why?

I dont think here is any problem whatsoever reading Dan Borwn books. so why would i need to go to confession, You on the other hand completed a book you beleived mocked our Lord and Savior-sounds like a serious sin to me.

no need to pity bob…he’s a great guy and can see the forest through the trees. I have “disagreed” with him alot on these boards…but he maintains his integrity. He has my respect…he is one of the few right leaning Catholics that I am comfortable with on the boards. It is rare to find “human” qualities in some of these threads.

Attacking the Catholic Church and Christianity has been going on for centuries…reading a book…and liking it…is small potatoes. You may not like it and believe it’s attacking the church…but I read it and found it to be interesting. Did it change what I believe to be Catholic…not hardly. If a book can shake your faith…it can’t possibly be that strong to begin with.

Well I can use all the pity I can get. Better yet send me cash and ill use it to but Pipi Longhstocking books. Or maybe even Crime and Punishment!

Well I will have to admit that a guy jumping out of a helicopter at 10,000 feet and landing unharmed uisng only a tarp top break his fall was a little blasphemous to gravity…
 
I don’t think Dan Brown is that talented of an author, but since HE WRITES FICTION, the ideas don’t really bother me all that much.

I do find it interesting he’s based his books on the “Holy Blood, Holy Grail” series. Which one of the authors of that book even said some of the info in their books has been stretched quite a bit.

How can a fiction book be heresy? You giving too much credence to Dan Brown which he definitely doesn’t deserve. Since his books are fiction and not Theology texts, I don’t see an issue.

Well the pope is in the Bible and is also in Angels and Demons-in fact there are TWO Popes in Angels and Demons. Does that make it twice as holy as the Bible?

Wow, you must either not read very well or only skimmed through my last post. I didn’t read the davinci code for entertainment, I read it to be informed on what this idiot is writing about. My Priest even told em that if I wanted to get in on arguments about the book I should know what I’m arguing about.
Believe me, I barely got through the dumb book without tearing it to bits (from the poor writing and blasphemy).
Don’t worry, I can see your this all perfect person who doesn’t sin. Your allowed to read the book and think theres nothing wrong with it. I’m a sinner for reading a book to become informed on what some idiot author is writing.

. This is the very first time I have ever been accused of claiming I was a prefect person merely because I like a work of Fiction. !! Kind of goes to your head.! I wonder-will i be raised to the level of the Saints in heaven if i read a work of non-fiction you dont approve of? How about Ann Coulters godless? Will that put me among the Exahalted?

That is what I was quoting. Not that you like the book, but that you’re saying there is nothing wrong with you reading it, but I made a big sin by reading it. Double standard?
