Law Professor says Christian sexual ethics will help the poor

"George Mason University law professor Helen Alvare challenged Catholics to courageously witness to the truth of the Church’s sexual teaching, because doing so will aid the poor.

“The new sex, mating and marriage marketplaces have treated women terribly,” especially the poor, said Alvare."

"Instead of seeking long-term solutions, policy makers try to fix social welfare issues “on the cheap” by promoting contraception, abortion and a message of sexual libertinism to the poor, who “thereafter suffer the highest rates of non-marital births, abortions, sexually transmitted infections and unintended pregnancies.”

In contrast, Alvare said, Christian teaching is able to offer a vision of sexuality and social welfare that promotes the flourishing of all persons."

Absolutely true. Rick Santorum made a great point when campaigning, in order to have smaller government (and thus the need for massive social services programs) we have to have strong families. It’s in family that we have protection for women and children, not just financially but socially, emotionally as well.

Marriage is becoming rarer and rarer among lower income cadres. It becomes a vicious circle…single mothers, absent fathers, children who are less likely to finish school, more likely to get involved in early sexual activity and substance abuse, all of which lead to MORE poverty and another generation trapped.

Engaging this forward thinking to avoid this pernicious form of mysogyny means more people will need to become interested in deep, true love and more conservative lifestyle choices. The media will simply never allow this to happen. The media enjoys it’s influence over the Culture, and, sadly, too many people are either too shallow to appreciate it or they offer reactionary help after the damage has been done, which only expands the cycle. Downtrodden women and broken families are easier to control, and people can’t wait to vote for more because they insist on denying the truth.
