You are not making any sense; can you elaborate your point please.

Matt 27 -
5 And he threw the pieces of silver into the temple sanctuary and departed; and he went away and hanged himself. 6 The chief priests took the pieces of silver and said, “It is not lawful to put them into the temple treasury, since it is the price of blood.”

Acts 1-
1:18 - (Now this man acquired a field with the price of his wickedness, and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his intestines gushed out. 19 And it became known to all who were living in Jerusalem; so that in their own language that field was called Hakeldama, that is, Field of Blood.)

Are you suggesting their is some contradiction? Please clarify your point or thoughts.
It is a similar, if not exact example of the same thing. I do not discard either one. Why? The beginning part of 2 Maccabbees are letters written by person A. The rest of 2 Maccabbees is written by person B.

It is the same case for Acts and Matthew. Two different authors.

It is obvious that the relating of real events is different because it is being given by two different people.

Are you suggesting that there ISN"T?
I believe the Bible as infallible and without error; I have never met nor will I ever meet a Christian who believes otherwise, since the bible is the voice of God and He cannot lie nor contradict Himself.

Then explain the discrepancies between those two verses.

By the way, your definition of “Christian” is VERY True Scott…there are many Christians who believe that the men who wrote the bible goofed once or twice. That doesn’t mean that the bible is not scripture.

And before you have a stroke, as far as I can tell, even sola scriturians and sola fideans claim, at the bottom, that they believe that the bible is inerrant IN THE ORIGINAL… (the which we don’t, after all, actually HAVE.)

But if you truly believe that the bible is inerrent, which version of the bible is truer than all the rest of 'em? Are they all inerrent?

 Here I go again walking in a minefield. In Mormons’ theological world of our spiritual past and how it is reflected in our skin pigments (I hope I got this right) where do Asians fit in or the freckled for that matter? I would like to know more. Any references?
Please, in the interest of receiving a Mormon response, no pile ons.

I understand where you are coming from, but God makes no error and is incapable of making error and the books you claim as inspired by God contain error; so you chose to believe that God did not inspire the writers enough to avoid error? Or do you just hold on to the idea that the bible contains error? You can’t have it both ways; you can try but in the end it will not wash.

We are all children of God, and since 1978, no ‘race’ is any different from another in His sight. The rest is all genetics. Evolution, if you want to really open up a mine field. 😉

I wonder if the LDS’s did the same thing toward the Catholic doctrines if they would be treated the same; probably booted for being uncharitable. You are shamful and embarrasing. Believe it or not you are all made in the image of the incorruptible God and all need the Savior and must take Him as Lord as well. Both of your religions have much in common concerning extra Biblical practises and neither of them teach nor understand the gospel of Grace as Paul put it in Galatians; so how are you any better off than they are? Explain.

Derek, the problem is, those two verses tell VERY different stories of Judas’ end. If the bible is inerrent, how can they both be accurate? This is something we have asked you to do; reconcile these two verses so that they DO, as you claim they do, tell the same story and are both ‘true.’

Simply standing there and declaring that the bible is inerrent doesn’t really help, y’know.

Yes in the original manuscripts, which we do not have but we have enough , literally thousands and the errors are so minicle and the meaning is not changed. Themn you have to deal with translations from one language to another, but if you believe there is an error or contradiction, then it is you who lacks understanding, not God. This si what makes learning about God and ourselves exciting is when we see what appears to be a contradiction we know it is not and we know we must dig deeper to comprehend, but that can’t happen with the unregenerate.

In the passages you looked at their is no contradiction. If I was at one corner and witnessed and accident where tweo people were thrown out of a car and one was killed and the other was lying flat on the middle of the road. you were there first and reported both the dead victim and the onservation of the other person lying in the road. I come along after the ambulence has removed the dead person and my report will be true as well as yours is. the same is true here, both are correct. If you hung yourself, then the rope broke and there was a rock below, you might hit that and split open your guts; don’t try it though…🙂

Carefully study the passages again and the entire context, meaning the audience the timeframe etc, then let me know if you still see a conflict. You obviously believe the Bible is with error and as such you condemn yourself as I see it and how god will see it, but their is the living Hope and we do not know when the HS will move; it took Him 34 plus years before He came to me.

Do you actually want a reference? You might start with a purly Catholic Bible that has a good intro for each book; there should be the disclaimer which is minimized. How many errors does one need in a bible for it to be errant? and not inspired?

Did not take me long to find one online; notice how the actual fact that the book contains error is “waterd down so much” as to hide something, like inspiration for example.

“The book is not without genuine historical value in supplementing I Maccabees, and it contains some apparently authentic documents (2 Macc 11:16-38). Its purpose, whether intended by Jason himself or read into it by the compiler, is to give a theological interpretation to the history of the period. There is less interest, therefore, in the actual exploits of Judas Maccabeus than in God’s marvelous interventions. These direct the course of events, both to punish the sacriligeous and blashphemous pagans, and to purify God’s holy temple and restore it to his faithful people. ***The author sometimes effects his purpose by transferring events from their proper chronological order, and giving exaggerated figures for the size of armies and the numbers killed in battle; he also places long, edifying discourses and prayers in the mouths of his heroes, and inclines to elaborate descriptions of celestial apparitions ***(2 Macc 3:24-34; 5:2-4; 10:29, 30; 15:11-16). He is the earliest known composer of stories that glorify God’s holy martyrs (2 Macc 6:18-7:42; 14:37-46).” God does not exaggerate; it is another word for “lie”.

Sorry, but your arguement holds no water.

If you actually read the introduction which you posted, you would see that it Explains the book in a fashion similar to a synopsis.

Nowhere does it even come close to admitting any type of error. I think your intrerpretation is extremely off the mark.

If I were to guess, the portion you have highlighted is merely explaining that the numbers used are what would commonly referred to in today’s world as literary license, or dramatic effect.

Your statement was " a known book to have error, even by the Catholic Church admission.

There is a big difference between admitted literary license/dramatic effect, and known error.

One thing I know Derek, I leave the judgement of my soul to God. Not you or any other human.

You declare me shameful and embarrassing.

I know God loves me. I know God has forgiven me. I know He has died for me. I know His merciful.

If He loves me even though you declare me shameful and embarrassing, why should I worry what you think??

God Loves me. 😃

Probably not the explanation you were looking for or hoping for. But its full of the Truth, nonetheless 👍

I’ve heard that one…doesn’t explain the thirty pieces of silver, where in one account Judas threw them in the Temple courtyard, and in the other it says that Judas used the money to buy the plot of land upon which he died. Reconciling these takes an incredible amount of assuming…and that’s never a good idea.

As for me, I don’t have the problem of HAVING to reconcile these verses. Nor do I have to worry about Moses not ‘getting’ that bats aren’t birds, and that hares (or rabbits) don’t chew their cuds. The bible is scripture…but not everything in it is inerrent, just the important stuff.

I know the feeling. I was guilty of that just today…and I told myself off for it. I"m sure that the moderators will get me too, and when they do, I will deserve it. (sigh) We try, but our tempers can get away from us.

It’s nice to know that abuse, in whatever form it rears it’s head, is not welcome on this forum, internet though it may be.

So many forums are so tolerant of such behavior.

Glad to know CAF does not. 👍
