King Follet Sermon is one of the best sermons of the 19th-century. Good job, Mr. Smith!
Just a clarification, are you speaking of the “feeling”? If so, don’t you know that “feelings” can deceive? Also, if that is what you are speaking about, perhaps you should know that just “feelings” are not our criteria. Faith coupled with reason is, so we aren’t even speaking in a way we can understand each other.Again, where have you felt the Spirit where Latter-day Saints can not go?
I also know LDS that I am ashamed to call LDS, but we still LOVE them, whowever that is not the point. There is not a single LDS doctrine that you can prove without any dought that it does not come from God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. Therefore you have absolutly no right to claim that LDS are not Christian and follow pagan ideas (do not put limitations on the gospel of Jesus Christ as it is bigger than us all)Are you sure that “knowing them by their fruits” means that “you will know whether they are Christian or hold pagan beliefs by appearances”. Maybe it means something else.
I have met quite a few atheists and agnostics who act kindly (what some would call “Christian”) but who obviously aren’t Christian. I have also met some LDS who couldn’t be called kind by any stretch of the imagination–and we know that LDS documents call themselves “a peculiar people” and we know that the LDS hold pretty pagan ideas (like many gods, etc.) not Christian ideas at all no matter how much they’d like to hide behind the name.
Please explain how you understand “know them by their fruits”knowing them by their fruits" means that “you will know whether they are Christian or hold pagan beliefs by appearances”. Maybe it means something else.
Um, did you read the very first post of this thread? :juggle:There is not a single LDS doctrine that you can prove without any dought that it does not come from God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. Therefore you have absolutly no right to claim that LDS are not Christian and follow pagan ideas
You cannot disprove the truth of the first post whether it is sound doctrine from the Father or not, therefore you have to give those of us who believe this to be fact the benifit of the dought and thus accept that we are ChristianUm, did you read the very first post of this thread? :juggle:
LDS do not have have valid baptism and accordingly are not Christian.I also know LDS that I am ashamed to call LDS, but we still LOVE them, whowever that is not the point. What defines a Christian?
He who professes that Jesus is the Christ
He who strives with all his might to live by every word of Christ
He who strives not to defile the temple of God
He who seeks out the widow etc etc etc
Therefore LDS are as much Christian as any other

Please explain how you understand “know them by their fruits”
I guess we all have to wait and see what christ says about it. I think that many people (such as many catholics on this board) will get a surprise upon death.LDS do not have have valid baptism and accordingly are not Christian.
So is that why you claim to be both Catholic and mormon? Trying to cover yourself either way?I guess we all have to wait and see what christ says about it. I think that many people (such as many catholics on this board) will get a surprise upon death.![]()
Jesus is the Truth. You avoided the question. I am talking about the Holy Spirit.
Yes you can be deceived, but God is love and so shall it accompany the feeling. The Spirit also warns and reproves.
Again, where have you felt the Spirit where Latter-day Saints can not go?
Do they lie?"
Please explain how you understand “know them by their fruits”
Not really. God has already founded His Church (way back in history–not in 1830) and promised to be with it until the end of time. I know I’m not saying that LDS can’t be saved, I’m just saying that the LDS are not Christian in that they hold pagan beliefs–polytheism, God only “organized” the universe (but didn’t create it), the necessity of “secret handshakes and all” in order to be saved a la the pagan Gnostics. And I believe polygamy was the usual practice among the pagan nations back in ancient times and the LDS not only practiced that until the 20th century, but still have the practice enshrined in their books and expect to practice it again in death. Christian? Don’t think so. Jesus uplifted women–He did not beat them down. And He certainly did not leave men to their “trouser devils”.I think that many people (such as many catholics on this board) will get a surprise upon death.![]()
I Know of no lie only the fabricated ones by those who feel threatened.Do they lie?
No one has the full story and were not there so no one is in any real possion to make judgement, so I would be slow to shout adultery, to be sealed to one, does not constitute adulteryDo they commit adultery with multiple women, including the wives of other men?
Why did those who claim this not go to the facsimile that is in open display long ago and make their claim?Do they fabricate stories about false relics in order to build their reputation?
I know of no slander, what I do know is that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored in its fulness by he who was called and set appart to do so.Do they slander Christianity ?
Who then has valid baptism ??LDS do not have have valid baptism and accordingly are not Christian.
Joseph Smith did all those things.I Know of no lie only the fabricated ones by those who feel threatened.

May I suggest that you read Todd Compton’s book, In Sacred Loneliness. (Don’t worry, Todd Compton is LDS so you shouldn’t be accused of reading “anti” literature.) However, you can probably get a lot of information using LDS genealogy sites concerning Joseph Smith Jr. and then doing some historical research about those women that were “sealed” to him–many were just young teens and some were other men’s wives while he was married to Emma. (In fact, she caught him in the act with the servant girl and that’s why JS wrote in the Doctrines and Covenants that unless she accepts it, “Emma will be destroyed”.No one has the full story and were not there so no one is in any real possion to make judgement, so I would be slow to shout adultery, to be sealed to one, does not constitute adultery
Thank you.To CHESTERTONRULES question about the practice of adultery, you wrote:

Darn “trouser devil” had JS busy with a number of women and the relationships weren’t just “spiritual”. (It can all be verified.) However, I think Brigham Young far outstrips JS. (A news report the other year reported that he had around fifty women in his harem.)
Anyone with the proper matter, form and intent.Who then has valid baptism ??
WOW! is right, while reading it all I could think off was boy the devil is sure speaking to him,![]()
