In fact, if I understand the Church’s teaching on this, a Catholic women would be permitted to accept treatment even though it would result in killing the fetus, because that result is not intended.
Yes, that is the Catholic Church’s position.
Paul

What does that have to do with cancer? A more apt metaphor would be kililng in self defense. THe fetus is posing a direct threat to the life of the mother. The mother’s life takes precedence. To allow the mother to die would be immoral. It saddens me that Catholics don’t see this. I’ll pray for you.
But to kill someone who is innocent isn’t immortal?

My metophor is right on target. You don’t have the right to simply kill someone who might kill. So why should you have the right to kill an unborn child?

I can say the same to you it boggles my mind that our society can’t see that killing someone who not at fault isn’t murder.

We’ve already established that the fetus can be killed under certain circumstances, such as when the mother needs to take chemo that will result in the fetus being aborted.

It boggles my mind that you can’t see that allowing the mother to die so that the fetus will live is immoral. And that allowing the fetus and the mother to die when you could save the mother is also immoral.

That answers what your mother would do. I asked what you would do if you had the choice to spare your mother’s life or be born.

What if your birth would likely result in both the death of your mother and yourself. Would you choose for her to go through with the pregnancy?
Would I have wanted my mother to have my limbs ripped apart and suctioned out of her uterus because the pregnancy put her at risk? The answer is “no”, I would not have wanted her to do that. Would you have wanted your mother to choose to vacuum you out in pieces from her womb?

I like how Valke asks us what we would want our moms to do but when we pose the same questions to him he does not answer:eek:

Here is what a baby that was aborted because the mother was depressed would look like:

WARNING: EXTREMELY GRAPHIC AND UPSETTING PHOTOGRAPHS!!!

Do you have any photos of what a woman who has been murdered to prevent her from having abortion looks like?

P.S. One link will do.

don’t go softening the question. Not if the pregnancy was at risk. The question is, if your birth would have posed a direct threat to your mother’s life, would you have chosen to forfiet her life for yours. And if by going through with your birth, both you and your mother would die, would you choose to take your mother with you?

Or any photos of a 14 year old giving dying giving birth to a severly deformed baby? Next thing Eden will be posting pictures of defensless cows and chickens and arguing about how eating meat is murder. It is a slippery slope from equating all pregnancy terminations are murder to “PETA is right”.

WHy is it that pro life extremists seem to live for those kind of pictures?

If two people are trapped in a burning house and you can only save one of them, is it immoral to do so? Would the moral thing be to not save either of them, so that you do not put yourself in the position of valuing one life over the other??

so you know equate a burning house to an abortion?
these two things are unequal they can not be compared.

Moderator has reviewed the thread.

I am truly shocked at the direction this thread took. I thought we were all adults here and desiring of intellectual and philosophical discussion.

To be coy about issues with such depth really belongs somewhere else.

Please consider this a fair warning. If you want to just post to see yourself post, or just stir the pot, please seek satisfaction somewhere else. For if you choose to do it here, you will be suspended or banned.

Thank you for your cooperation.
