In the Fatima prayer after the Glory Be in the rosary, we pray “lead *all souls *to heaven - especially those most in need of thy mercy.” Does this prayer suggest that there is the possiility that everyone will be saved?

No, it should be our prayer, just like it is God’s desire that “all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” 1 Timothy 2:4. Yet we know from many different parts of scripture that this will not happen.

I would agree with Zenas, completely.

Yes, I think it is a definite possibility!🙂
Why? Because in the book of Peter, it says that “God desires that every man
be saved”. So, if God desires it, there just might be a way that He can get it!
After all, He is God!
Think of this: When all of mankind was doomed to separation from God forever
because of our attitude, starting with Adam and Eve, God was already making a
plan - Jesus. Why can’t he make another plan for people in hell?

But, you have heard the old saying, “you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t
make him drink”. He can lead all souls, but they still have free will to choose.
That is the one problem, the reason why maybe God can’t get His own way.

Baltimore Catechism #3:

1379 - What is Hell?
Hell is a state to which the wicked are condemned, and in which they are deprived of the sight of God for all eternity, and are in dreadful torments.

1380 - Will the damned suffer in both mind and body?
The damned will suffer in both mind and body, because both had a share in their sins. The mind suffers the “pain of loss” in which it is tortured by the thought of having lost God forever, and the body suffers the “pain of sense” by which it is tormented in all its members and senses.

Catechisms are an authority Catholics must submit to.

Yes, and not only Catholics, but everyone. The Catholic Church is the one true Church, instituted by Jesus Himself!
So you don’t think He will ever add another plan to all the plans He’s already
added to history?

God sent his Son, and he is “the Way” that God chose to show that he desires that all be saved. It is foolish to tell people that there is a chance that God is going to somehow change what he has revealed through Christ and his Church. **Matt.7:13-14 "“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and those who enter through it are many. How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life. And those who find it are few.” **

You pretty much answered your question. Whether we are united with God or separated from Him for eternity is our own choice. In order to have ALL souls in heaven God would have to remove the free will of a part of the population so that they cannot choose to reject Him. But being forced to love God (or anyone else for that matter) is not love at all.

God desires everyone to make the choice to love Him. What is He supposed to do if we refuse?

Amen! God is Almighty. So His Will will be done. Freedom of choice, yes, but His Will be done.

It’s one of those things that really surprises me that people do not get yet. Remember, He created all. He is the Big Boss of all and everything that exists. So if He wills something, you better be sure it will happen. Thinking it won’t is denying the authority of God himself.

He wants every man in Heaven, so they will all be in Heaven. No theologist can change that, unless they pretend to know better than God that is. 😛
Which does not mean that man cannot delay it, but to render it impossible is not an option. And God does not bargain (after all that was the devil’s department), but I would say that God’s Plan is to render satan jobless. So yes, all men will be saved and then there will be the end of time, and also satan will be able to go home himself.

It’s really absurd to think that anything can oppose the Will of God. It’s nice to have that fantasy, but fortunately it is nothing but that: a fantasy.

no, rather the opposite, if all are going to heaven there would be no need of the prayer

Be careful what you’re saying, you’ve accidentally espoused the heresy of Calvinism. God never fails, even when men are sent to Hell, which is for all eternity (CCC 1035).

How? Because God desires with a primary will that men have free-will, and He desires with a secondary will that men are saved. God never fails, because He only desires His secondary will on the condition of the fulfillment of His primary will.

So yes, men do burn in Hell for all eternity, and it doesn’t sorrow God.

You should change your religion from Catholic to Indifferentism(on your CAF page) so you do not decieve those who may think you are giving sound Catholic advice when you are not.

You forget one thing. Jesus proclaimed regarding Judas, “It would have been better if he had not been born…” (paraphrasing).

How could that be said of Judas if he was basking in the glow of heaven?

Oh good, I stirred up some things. 😃

Now honestly, does it make sense? Here you have God: eternally good, loving and wanting all his children to be with Him.

Does that correspond with the god who is fine with his beloved children to burn forever in hell?

Really, you really must be willing to betray all your senses of logic in order to find that acceptable for an explanation.

No, I say that in the end, Lucifer himself will end up back where he belongs: with the other archangels. Anything fallen that repends will go to heaven. Just because that might not fit someone’s agenda does not make it not so.

Interesting idea with regards to the Calvinism. In Wikipedia I find this phrase when they try to explain the 5 points of Calvinism:
The central assertion of these canons is that God is able to save every person upon whom he has mercy and that his efforts are not frustrated by the unrighteousness or the inability of humans.
Which in reality is not what I am trying to say. I am claiming that every man will in the end go to heaven because God wants them there, and by their own free will. Which in my mind does not mean that someone who opposes to that would be able to enter heaven.

I hope I’m making myself properly understood here. 😉

Maybe not 100% the view of the catholic church, but I do think it makes sense.

I think the view of the CC is that it’s a virtue to pray for this but a heresy to believe it. That makes sense…🤷

so, you didn’t answer my question regarding Judas.

And the understanding is that God loves us so much that He will allow us to reject Him if we choose.
