What this article did cause me to ponder is the fact that these girls (who I don’t know so they may be quite modest Catholic young ladies and therefore am not making any judgement about them - since I don’t know)dressed modestly - covered their heads and legs to go to the mosque. If only they were expected to dress modestly (and the standards are a bit different BUT not that different) to come to Mass and receive the God of the Universe. Goes to show you the lukewarmness of our faith.

Why?!?

Are you saying that what they did was okay? I think the article had some very valid points.
If Islam took over, all women would run around like that. Cultural politeness would go right out the window. Everything having to do with Islam is a one-sided affair. They can build mosques, we can’t build churches. Female American soldiers can’t drive in Saudi Arabia, possessing Bibles is illegal and so forth. The very tolerance of the West might be its own undoing. Islamic countries are “smarter” in this manner, much smarter.

So my question is - why would we dress modestly to go to the mosque (and we should out of respect for others beliefs) and NOT for coming to Mass?
We would not have allowed our children to go on this field trip. The article says that many parents did not allow their children to go. I agree with the fact that this could leave many questions in a child’s mind. I also feel that none of the parents should have let them go. I did say I liked the article because it was informational as to what they exposed their children to.

The reason they dressed modestly to go to the mosque was because they were told to do so.

IMHO the reason we don’t dress modestly (speaking in the royal we) is because we are not asked to do so. If the subject was spoken by the priest and others in authority then most people would dress properly. What saddens me is that those that go to the non-catholic churches tend to dress with more respect then many Catholics.

Yes. And you know what? The non-catholics are more open to the gospel than we are. Reason? Remember what our Blessed Lord said, “To whom more is given, more is required.” But let’s be honest w/ ourselves here, B16 is like a duck talking to a chicken or a man talking to a lampost for that matter. The word “reciprocity” does not even exist in the Moslem vocabulary. Here’s how I feel, the catholics who planned this trip ought to be beaten until their IQ increases.
