Most of those are good things, but I’ve always wondered why testifying that Muhammad is Allah’s messenger is part of the same “commandment”, if you will, as testifying to the oneness of God. I understand how Muhmmad is central to Islam (duh), but I don’t understand how his messengership or prophethood is necessarily related to God’s oneness. It seems like if God is one (which, yes, I and every other Christian believe He is), then He is one regardless of anyone’s testimony. I mean, He created the universe! So I don’t understand why the two principles are grouped together.
I guess my question essentially is: Does God need Muhammad to bolster His claims, or does Muhmmad need God to bolster his?
