When we lived in Louisville, KY, our new parish was quite the over the top, post Vatican II, in 1976. It was a round all glass church, and every Sunday we had no idea where the altar would be set up. The first Mass I attended was All Saints Day…“Malcolm X pray for us”. I asked the priest about this later and he said the liturgy committee had decided to invoke his name as he died for his cause. Hey, so did Hitler, but I wouldn’t think he would have any particular inside track to sainthood, or neccessarily be in a position to “pray for us”. Then there was the Gospel with liturgical dancer in veils interpreting the Gospel in Dance all over the altar. But the very worst to me was the leavened bread for Communion. Who wants to go using a toothpick to pry Jesus from in between your teeth. I doubt, at least hope this is longer the case at this Roman Catholic Church in Louisville but for the year and a half we lived there, I found it very difficult to practice my faith in my own parish. s
