Bad news- I have stupidly made the classic mistake of agreeing to read a reading during my cousinās wedding. Sheās Methodist and the groom is a lapsed Catholic. I just found out that it doesnāt matter if heās lapsed. He is still obligated to follow canonical form, therefor the marriage is presumptively invalid unless he gets permission from the bishop. Even more bad news- the wedding is in 3 weeks⦠in
her church!
How long could it take to get āpermission to enter into a mixed marriageā and a ādispensation from canonical formā? Can it be done in less than 3 weeks? (Probably depends on the diocese Iām sure⦠but just curious if anyone wanted to share the experience with this and if it was difficult.)
