How do you get a bass player off your porch?

Pay him for the pizza.

What’s the difference between a drummer and a savings bond?

Eventually the savings bond will mature and earn money.

That’s their Swan-Song album label, Zep’s…you can still get those on Ebay or anywhere online…go check it out…
One thing i don’t get is why people keep calling Slipknot metal, they’re not metal. They’re fake metal and on Ultimate-guitar the people would be insulted for calling them metal.

I think this place is a lot of posers who claim to be metalheads but aren’t.

That slipknot stuff is lame, period…

Yeah.

it’s

detuned guitars

no guitar solos(very basic guitar work)

the lead guitarist rapping versus singing or growling.

Nu-metal is more hiphop based then metal based.

I think i could probably write for guitar world.

The guitars sound like chainsaws with super crunchy, lame distortion pounding E chords and bar chords with double base drums thumping while some idiot screams into a microphone like a banshee. That’s not metal. That’s not even music. It sounds like a car wreck, literally!

I consider them more like poseur metal.

Didn’t we all have to endure the same criticisms of our beloved metal? Anyhow I agree completely and the ones that jumped on the bandwagon that these sorts of groups were metal was MTV. They brought back Headbanger’s Ball but all they played were these sorts of bands and touted them as metal and a lot of people fell for to. But those of us in the know couldn’t be fooled.

I remember one time when Avril Lavigne was relatively new on the scene and she was asked to play for Metallica’s induction into MTV’s hall of fame or something. Well in the interview before she played her song she admitted to having never listened to Metallica or knowing any of their music until like a week or two before. I just about died when I heard that. It was all a farce.

Avril Lavigne’s music is pretty dang good when compared to Justin Bieber and Brittney Spears and Christina Aguilera and all this prissy cheesy nonsense. Lavigne, Nickelback, they’ve been about the only palatable stuff I’ve listened to along with Evanescence and Train here and there in the past whole decade! 😛

To WackBob and others with similar questions,

Seeking the advice of others who are Christ-followers, for answers to the questions that you have is a wise thing, but let me also encourage you to do something that I feel is even wiser: seek God Himself for the answers to your questions. With your question about whether you should listen to Led Zep or anything else in life, God will reveal Himself and His will, through His Word (The Holy Bible) and through prayer to Him. Go to God in prayer and ask Him your very same question that you are asking others. Pray that He will guide you as you read His Word, for guidance through the decisions you are trying to make. As believers in Jesus Christ, who have received His free gift of salvation and have faith that He is our Lord and Savior whom died on the cross for our sins and rose again, we have the amazing blessing and privilage to go to God and ask of Him ourselves. The answer may not always be what we expect, but I can tell you from personal experience, when I pray to God and seek Him and His Truths in His Word, He always lovingly guides me and provides me with the strength I need. I will pray for you about your decisions and your relationship with God, even though I don’t know you. God calls us to do such things out of the love that He supplies us. To God Be The Glory! Have a wonderful week!

I would assume, because our ability to write music was given to us by God, it is good in nature. This gift should yield good music, provided it is used properly. I have listened to a few of Led zeppelin’s songs and non of them intentionally had any lyrics against God. (Stairway to Heaven, however did coincidentally have what sounded like a hidden message when played backwards, but the band members claim that it is completely a coincidence)

No friend. You totally ignored the fact that Page was the one who spoke about supernatural experiences that took place when they wrote the song Stairway and the fact that he also said that the song was not written through their own creativity (the group) but was channeled or something by an unseen force. He spoke about mysterious events that took place is Bloskine House (formerly owned by Aleister Crowley reknown occultist).

While musical ability is no doubt a gift from God, liek any other gift it can be used for good OR evil. Let’s not forget that. If you actually listen to the part of the song “If there’s a bustle in your hedgrow”…to…“road you’re on.” backwards you will hear “Oh here’s to my sweet satan. The one whose lille path would make me (undistinguishable) whose power is satan. He’ll give those with him 666. There was a little toolshed where he made us suffer sad satan.” Now if all that is just a coincidence then I’m sure metal and various compounds can accidentally come together to form a dodge viper…given enough time.

The fact of the matter isn’t that that song was produced in a moment of unheralded Satanic inspiration, but that Page had been working on bits and pieces of thoughts and melodies over the time it took to record Led Zeppelin III and IV. Plant worked through different words and lyrical ideas to try and match what Page was doing musically. Jones and Bonham fell in behind trying to work up their bits, especially with Jones trying to get the bass and any organ parts just right.

I’ve listened to the supposedly backmasked parts before and the transcriptions everybody provides are usually just guess work at best, as many people seem to hear different things each time.

Pardon my mistake I meant Plant not Page.

But all that is to say that you believe that there is no backmasked message because “many people” seem to hear different things when listening to it backwards. Clearly you didn’t hear anything yourself and that is fine…just say that. But you haven’t said it have you why? Is it because you actually heard what sounded like an ode to satan clearly enough to be distinguished? I’m sure you are at least that open minded about this.

Alot of people including myself have heard it backwards and all the “versions” of what is being “said” backwards is more or less the same with a word or two different. Guess what? When lyrics to popular songs are heard forwards most people still don’t get it exactly right when writing down what they hear the artist singing. Is that not so? I’ve checked hundreds of song lyrics online and no two weebsites have the exact same interpretation of the words.

Don’t you think that it is beyond strange for so many people to be hearing something that isn’t there?

Whether it was done intentionally or by “accident” there is no denying that it is unlikely that a long string of words when played backwards can actually sound like coherrent sentences for the most part.

I didn’t realize I had to be so clear, all I heard was jibberish and non-sensical noises that said nothing coherent in what is typically regarded as standard English. If you listen hard enough and long enough you can make your mind form the words and phrases you want to hear in the backwards playing of the song, but that in no way makes it actually there.

It’s not strange for all these websites to have the same words or something similar. It’s a self-propagating thing. One person says this is what is heard, somebody else listens and says “No, that’s close but here’s exactly what is said.” Another person comes along and says you’re both wrong here’s what is actually said. And, a million other lazy people cut and paste from other magazine articles, newspaper stories, websites or Satanic Panic videos they saw in the 80s to come up with what was said. So, no not in the least bit am I convinced that there is anything there.

I think that all of this Satanic stuff about Led Zeppelin and most bands is mostly gossip installed by the media and sometimes even bands, to make those bands more contraversal and with that more popular.I mean if Page really did practice black magic, who would have knowledge about that except him?I heard that Geezer Butler,of Black Sabbath, used to paint his room in black and invert crosses.I mean if he really did do that who could possibly have knowledge about that. The media often exaggerates information about popular musicians to get more viewers. In the 80’s the more contraversal you were the more popular you were. For that reason many bands claimed to be satanist.I bet that Sabbath and Zeppelin laugh their heads off when they hear some of the gossip about them.

True but that does not mean that all of it isn’t true. By their fruits we shall know them. These artists in question have mostly done nothing in their public or private statements to dispel any rumors, gossip or widely held notions of their alleged satanic or demon worship practices/beliefs.

So who would have knowledge of what the pope or mel gibson or jim carey’s religious practices are? People close to them or other witnesses of course. It’s a classic way that allegations are born by witnesses. I’m not saying that all allegations are true but some are true or have some basis of truth in them.

Yes true. And maybe the band members of said bands do laugh their heads off. That does not mean that the desire to generate controversy is the only driver for the gossip or for them to do and say the things that they do. Did it ever occur to you that MAYBE some people in the entertainment business actually do worship Satan or other false gods and that some of these people incorporate into their art (music, videos etc) as in their lives certain elements and themes associated with these anti-christian beliefs?
