Good. Why Catholic U should have to bend to this guy’s wishes is beyond me.

Reading the article, it also said that Professor Banzhaf who brought the complaint against CU has also fought sexual discrimination in Washington D.C. by fighting to make the prices for men’s and women’s haircuts equal. Really? Men having different prices for haircuts than women is sexual discrimination? Give me a break. This guy’s out of touch with reality.

Lol that’s… ridiculous. Women’s haircuts cost more because as a general rule, THEY HAVE MORE HAIR. I’m so tired of people trying to see discrimination and persecution where there really is none.

Actually, if hair length is the reason for the price differential, then it shouldn’t matter if the customer is a man or a woman. A woman with short hair shouldn’t have to pay a higher rate than a man with long hair.

Saying “as a general rule” women have more hair therefore all women should be charged more is discriminatory.

But more on topic, I am glad that the Catholic University of America is moving forward with its plan. The head of the DC Office of Human Rights is on record as saying that he thinks the university qualifies for a religious exemption. So it the law professor wants to pursue the matter beyond simply filing a complaint with the OHR, he will likely need to file a lawsuit.

I think it’s a shame they don’t have a mixed hall of residence. I stayed in one at university (with seperate floors for men and women) and it was great, it allowed me to make friends of both sexes, something I think is healthy and I think it actually discouraged sexual behaviour. I’m not saying that every hall should be mixed but that it should be an option. At my university, they said that turning a men-only hall into a mixed one had reduced the drinking as it stopped the “macho” element from taking over.

I think it is best to have mixed halls, with seperate floors/sections for men and women. Having said that, my sister’s hall at university was totally mixed and she didn’t have a problem with it. There can be single-sex halls for those that want such a thing but I don’t think it should be the only choice. It would also have split up some people I knew who had arrived at university already friends with a member of the opposite sex and in one case, a pair of male/female non-identical twins, who were extremely close and found having each other in the same building to be very helpful.

And it was really useful to be able to go downstairs and get one of my male friends to remove a spider from my room… 🙂

You would think so, wouldn’t you? But the research seems to point to the opposite conclusion. When the president of CUA announced the change, he noted that the research points to **more **drinking, especially binge drinking, in co-ed dorms.

Amen to that!

For once, I’m glad that someone in Catholic academia is willing to stick his neck out and STAND UP FOR MORALITY ON CAMPUS!

Too bad about the idiot ‘professor’ who whines about ‘discrimination’-he ought to GET A LIFE!

Sheesh…
