They are rightly disturbed to find out that a federally funded agency is able to discriminate based on religious beliefs. Shame on Catholic charities. If that is what they want to be about, let the Catholic Church fund them 100%. Why are they taking federal funds anyway?
 
Maybe they are taking federal funds because the government does not want to fully fund the program? If the charity is solely supported by the Catholic Church, it will only be able to offer far less than it does at the moment. If other groups feel strongly, surely they can set up their own charities instead of expecting the Catholic Church to be their personal service providers? Why should the Catholic Church abandon its faith at the whim of a minority? Why should the Catholic Church be ashamed of its generous and worldwide support for vulnerable people of all faiths and gender?
 
Why should Catholic charities take federal money and use it to promote their own agenda at the cost of discriminating against people for no reason other than their religious beliefs not aligning with the agency 's ? Doesn’t that seem wrong to you?

If I recall correctly, Catholic charities are no longer allowed to be involved in adoptions or fostering children in England and Wales. Although Islamic ones are still allowed despite holding no different positions on homosexuality.
 
I’m assuming this is an issue with Catholic Charities on a state by state basis. Here in Illinois they stopped providing adoption services because of the issue of adoption by same sex couples. Unfortunately, if the requirements for receiving funds include this possibility, then there appear only two choices.

If it is a Catholic organization, why are they suing the feds? It sounds like the Catholic expectations, not the feds, are the ones “thwarting” them! I guess they know they won’t get as big of a financial result from Catholic Charities?
 
Maybe they are trying to get Catholic Charities out of the refugee-aid business altogether?
 
There are arguments for both sides. On the one hand, yes, if there are strings attached don’t accept the funding. The lack of strings seems to be what these two women are objecting to.

OTOH, the strings would exclude a large group of people from involvement. Do we really want a governmentally-funded endeavor to exclude such a large number?
 
DARN that Catholic agency for upholding Catholic values! DARN them to HECK!
 
Anyone who would do that to kids is a twisted sicko and should be locked up. To be clear I mean the women trying to adopt a poor child and raise it without a father and in gross immorality. The article mentions they are university professors. It figures. Public universities need to be shut down if we are going to survive as a culture.
