Agreed! As long as the teacher does not bring her private or social life into the class room I would hold my peace. Just keep in mind "what would Jesus do(or say)? If anything becomes questionable-then it would be time to go to the person(s) that are in charge. You know, you can not shield a child forever, but teach him well at home in a Christian manner when the time comes. Peace.
Good point, Kendra. Something to ponder upon for sure. This is a pre-school. Not a baby-sitter or at home daycare. A person’s spouse doesn’t just hang out at work. The most a spouse would have any contact at a pre-school is dropping off the spouse/picking them up. Or possibly dropping off something, but that is usually handed to someone in the front office. Most schools have a curriculum that needs to be taught. I don’t remember talking about marriage of any sorts when I was teaching pre-k. And it wasn’t decades since I was in the classroom, either.
Kids are going to know people who are gay. Just like they are going to know plenty of other sinners and will sin themselves.
AgreedI think what this all comes down to is what is more important? Your child’s early moral development or playing outdoors for preschool?
There are no guarantees that this teacher’s “married” status isn’t going to come up. In fact, chances are pretty good that it will especially considering they brought it up immediately when introducing her.
Don’t take any chances with your child. My kids were all raised in the faith and as soon as they were exposed to public school ideals, the older two rejected everything I taught them, including our beliefs regarding homosexuality. They bought the lie as soon as it was offered to them. They were TEENS when that happened, what do you think a preschooler is going to do if exposed to that lie?
Perhaps a better option would be to enroll your child in a Catholic preschool program and in boy/girl scouts as they’re old enough and make an effort to go out as a family for hikes in the woods or camping trips.
How is not enrolling a child into that school “crucifying” that teacher?I feel sorry for the teacher as this open controversy is bound to get back some way or another and possibly cost her the job she has. Everyone is speculating as to what harm or influence the teacher will have on a four year old. We don’t know, but we make judgments. I said it before. What Pope Francis said, “Who am I to judge.” If Christ were among us today how would He judge? I do not condone SSM, but I hasitate to crucify.
The problem is that it’s very difficult to determine if teacher is behaving appropriately unless mom is in class as an aide or something. We can’t rely on a preschooler to determine or recall everything a teacher says.I am not a parent so take this with a grain of salt.
I would have no problem with a teacher who is gay/lesbian as long as they keep their private life out of the classroom – that goes for a heterosexual teacher as well. In my opinion no teacher should be speaking about their private life to a bunch of pre-schoolers. If you should happen to run into the teacher in another setting – out at dinner, et cetera – and she’s with her partner, you could simply introduce your child to the teacher’s friend and leave it at that. It really shouldn’t bring up any questions unless the teacher is acting incredibly inappropriate in public – again, the same for a heterosexual couple.
If the teacher starts behaving badly in the classroom – discussing things that shouldn’t be discussed – then I would remove my child and let the school know why. But as long as the teacher is behaving appropriately, I don’t see the big deal. This is, of course, assuming that this is a secular school and not a religious-based one. Since the OP said he/she is going to be supplementing the preschool with a Catholic preschool, I’m assuming it’s a secular school.

A primary grade lesbian teacher from an Ontario public school revealed in a workshop at a homosexual activist conference for teachers earlier this month how she uses her classroom to convince children as young as four to accept homosexual relationships.
…Strong related how she began with the junior kindergarten class.
“But difficult conversations are a part of what we do as teachers, right? And when these conversations are properly supported by teachers within the safety of the classroom, they provide a rich environment for our students as they unpack these complex social issues and they reflect on their own preconceptions, rights, of gender, sexuality, love, all these different things,” she said.
Strong related that as she was reading “King and King” in the junior kindergarten class as a springboard to discuss her sexuality with the kids, she got to the part where the two princes become ‘married’ when one of the boys suddenly shouted out: “They can’t do that! They can’t get married. They’re two boys.”
“…so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves”. -Jesus, Matthew 10:16Recounted Strong: “And I said, ‘Oh, yeah, yeah, they can. It’s right here on page 12.”
…
“I am here to tell you: All that time I said I wasn’t indoctrinating anyone with my beliefs about gay and lesbian and bi and trans and queer people? That was a lie,” wrote Canadian gay activist Sason Bear Bergman, a woman who identifies as a transgender man, in a March 2015 piece titled “I Have Come to Indoctrinate Your Children Into My LGBTQ Agenda (And I’m Not a Bit Sorry).” Bergman holds nothing back, stating she wants to make children “like us” even if that “goes against the way you have interpreted the teachings of your religion.”
In my humble opinion, PLEASE TAKE YOUR CHILD OUT OF THE SCHOOL, ASAP!My four year old son is enrolled in a year-round outdoor forest preschool program that we both love. Basically, the kids spend all day outside hiking, sledding, digging, climbing trees, doing nature crafts, etc in the woods and on a nearby farm. It has been really good for his health this year, because he’s getting lots of exercise.
I’m not an outdoorsy person at all so I really like that rain or shine, I know DS is going to get play time outside. I had been planning to re-enroll him next year and also supplement with a more traditional preschool at our local Catholic school.
Here’s my dilemma. The current teachers are leaving and the program director has just announced their replacements. One of the new teachers was introduced as a mom who lives with her wife and young baby in a nearby town. I don’t like the idea of this teacher offhandedly making a comment about her “wife” and having DS notice. On the other hand, a lot of things go right over his head (for example, we announced our most recent pregnancy to friends and family in front of him several times and he didn’t realize what we were saying), and I hate to pull him out of a program that is otherwise really good for him if the immoral living situation of one of the teachers won’t be brought in to school. To what extent do you think preschoolers notice the personal lives of the preschool teachers that supervise them?
I’m inclined to approach the program director to express my concern. What would you do?
