As I have posted numerous times, I have been struggling with unemployment. I have been trying hard to turn it over to God and trust His plan while doing what I can to secure a job. I have a 3 months contract that will be ending in 5 weeks. Part of me hopes to be kept on (which I don’t see happening) because it is a good company. The other part can’t wait for it to end because I just don’t know how to take my manager.
A client asked to have a report redone with a couple of changes. My boss sent me the email and asked me to do one of the changes. I ended up doing both. The whole time I was shaking in my boots. No matter how much she tells me to ask when I don’t understand, every time I ask a question she acts SO annoyed that I hate asking questions. I was petrified that if I only made one of the changes, my manager would get mad that I did not do both the changes the client asked for. If I made both changes, she would get mad that she only asked for one. So, I made both changes and it went over well.
Then, the client emailed us back with a few more changes they wanted that were not previously mentioned. My manager’s blood pressure seriously increased. I can’t help but take her personally. Just the way she acts makes me feel like she is taking it out on me.
Well, then, a customer whose report we changed 2 weeks ago did not like the changes. She told me to first look in the database and make sure the numbers matched what the client wanted before changing the report. So I looked in the system and the numbers did not balance. I figured out what happened and sent it to her in an email. My manager then came to my desk saying ‘We need to figure out what happened with the numbers’. As I was trying to explain, she was so busy snapping at me, she did not understand my explanations. She kept barking at me ‘Bring up this screen’. She could NOT for the world of her comprehend what happened with the numbers. She told me to start making a list of things. As she said that someone interrupted us to speak with her. After she finished talking to this person, she went back to her desk. I said ‘I finished the report would you like me to send it to you?’ To which she snapped ‘No, I don’t need it I know the numbers are right I want to know what the client is asking’
This woman makes absolutely no sense. I am convinced I am her punching bag. I just don’t know how to handle it. I have refrained from asserting myself because I want to be kept on and can’t help but think if I assert myself she will take it the wrong way.
I just don’t know what to do. This woman will never change and I don’t know what approach to take with her
