Society provides them infrastructure, police protection, fire protection
Last time I checked the individuals who own businesses pay taxes for those things just like the rest of us.
Society provides them… [with] tax breaks.
So now in your mind government is doing the individuals who own business a favor by allowing them to keep more of the money they earned? Are you serious? Thank God for our beneficent government who allows us to keep our property.
and you think they don’t owe something in return??!!! They will not owe society when all those things are taken back from them.
Yet again are you serious? The government who seizes the tax money is the one who owes us. They serve us, not the other way around.

Why the mean-spirited lectures about personal responsibility to aspawloski4th and overt disregard for the welfare of your fellow citizens?
Simple words make for effective communication. I expect my fellow citizens to do everything they can to take care of themselves before they expect me to take care of them.

When I hear someone suspects they have skin cancer and is not seeing a doctor for a $90 visit, I’d suggest my ideas on how to get to that doctor are far more beneficial than preaching about generalized social welfare.

Yada also had some good suggestions. Other than that, I have heard nothing that will help aspawlowski4th. Care to make a suggestion to help your fellow citizen?

If you don’t want to pay for it leave go to a country full of Joe sixpacks and walking conformist zombies. me I think everyone should be reading what Im reading because America is getting to be a country of unectucated ignorant know nothings. When someone wants to self educate we should encourage it at ALL and any cost. Those who dont like that type of thinking should go back to the dark ages where they belong.
I encourage anyone to educate themselves. Quit whining. Get a library card. Get to the doctor.

90 dollar visit??? What century are you living in?? try about 250!

In America one is permitted to set priorities for spending their funds. Some people give a higher priority to internet connections and computers than they give to their own health care. When they then want me to pay for their health care, it is reasonable to question their priorities.
I do give higher priority to mental and emotional health than physical health. As far as you payinf for healthcare, remember you will get to use it too. I really don’t care if the money comes out of your pocket or not. Printing some upo to pay for is fine with me. If America is going to have a floating currency, I say float it big time!

Ive got a library card! National healthcare is no less legitimate than libraries.
Glad you have the library card. So, now you have all you need for that intellectual stimulation and study you want. The internet is unnecessary.

If you choose internet over physical health, then I am content to let you live with that choice and its consequences.

All you care about is that the money comes out of somebody else’s pocket?

Get on the phone and call around asking what a viit costs. You will be surprised.
Actually my wife is on disability. She has severe psoriatic arthraitis, which is develops in about 10% of people who have psoriasis. She has psoriasis very bad also. Iv’e taken her to enough doctor appointments for her ailments to know what doctors cost… Much of our money is spent taking care of her ailments. I have to be ready for her diabetes to actup at a moments notice, because she is diebetic on her way to being a brittle diebetic. Her cholesterol is sky high, and she averages an ear ingection a year. Don’t tell me the price of doctors, Iv’e had my nose rubbed in it.

A The Federal Reserve
B Gold defines the value of the Dollar. Without backing, money can me manipulated any way the shadow governement so decides. When the Roman Emprire went to a fiat currency it’s value went into the toilet. Gold or silver works as a stablizer.
C Ill have to look for a copy of the constitution, but it specifies that money is to be minted by the treasury and even has a weight of gold speciefied to difine what amount of gold makes a dollar.
With our currency floating it is whatever value the Rockefellers and Rothschilds decide they want it to be. But that kind of manipulation can’t last forever. You might as well enjoy the money while you can, there is coming a day where our dollar will be so worthless that it be worth even less than the Mark of the old Weimar Republic.
I hate to break it to you like this but our currency isn’t backed by anything. If it was, you could go the the bank and trade a $20 bill for a $20 gold piece or you could get silver coins at the bank.

Ok,

but what macroeconomic system would help him the most? Why wouldn’t a welfare state that can assume some responsibility for in individual’s welfare help him the most since waiting for a few months for a doctors appointment entails much less sacrifice (for him) than saving up $90 or $250 for a doctors visit? It would seem that rejecting the welfare state only benefits those with adequate financial means with no financial insecurity that can immediately pay for medical care? Why is a private system a better mechanism of rationing than a welfare state that concerns itself on its citizen’s welfare? The private system rations access based on pecuniary resources and that means those without money would get left out. It seems that wealthy individuals want to reject the welfare state so they do not have to undergo the burden of supporting it and have a chance to go on their pulpit and preach about “personal responsibility”.

I do not care whether redistributive taxation is immortal or not, but what system would benefit him the most.

Why would a system that opposes the welfare state be suited to his needs more?

Misunderstanding, I thought I said it wasnt backed by anything.

  1. The woman is nuts.
  2. It takes months for an MRI in most countries with national health care. Canadians come to the the US for MRIs.
We have national health care down this way.

I met a woman dying from a terminal brain tumour. When she first presented to teh doctors with very serious and worrying symptoms they referred her for MRI, an urgent one. It took 18 months.

When the oncologist saw the results, he told her “if only we had got this a year ago, heck, even 6 months ago we could have saved you”.

The grass is not always greener on the other side, Obama.

👍

I mean…come on! 5 hours for a scheduled appointment??? Where is this commonly happening???

I’ve lived all over this country, three different provinces and I’ve never seen, let alone even heard of this.
If you’ve never heard of it, that’s because you’ve been living in Canada and not in the US since 2009.

Some national healthcare systems work better than others. Thats why you copy the oes that work. The Swiss do fine with theirs. Our systems works only if you are rich or if you have a job with good insurance. I have given up on ours, anysystem where one can loose their home over an anurysm is a failure and an embarassment. If it were me Id not spend the money on treating the anurysm and keep the home. Better to die in your own house than to live homeless.

The question is how would she have done in a private system. Of course, if she is wealthy, then should would have access to an MRI, but what if she was poor? Would she still have the same fate in that scenario?

I’ve used health care in Canada…my whole life! Not sure where anyone is waiting 5 hours for a scheduled appointment?

Most Doctors offices are open for 8 to 10 hours a day. How do you suppose they manage to get 5 hours behind? Wouldn’t that turn a Doctors day into a 15 hour working day? If the Doctors office is open 8 am to 6 pm…and they’re running 5 hours behind.

Are you suggesting that the Doctor is still seeing patients at 11 pm?
Your whole life? When are you due to face the death panel? 😉

Loosing internet wont get me that treatment anyway. I live like a dog already. If your house catches on fire that fire truck comes out of somebody’s pocket too! You should of spent money on a elaborate sprinkler system and your own firefighting equipenet afterall the fire department is payed for with someone elses money.
