Btw, did I mention that I was going to convert to Islam, but pro showed me the light and now I won’t, Thanks pro!
Okay, wait a sec? Where am I blaming anyone? Have I given even the slightest indication that I am unhappy with my decision?Pro_Universal,
There’s something to be said about leaving with dignity. Slamming us and blaiming others for your decision to leave is childish. It’s your desicion, and yours alone. Islam will have just as many hypocrictes, so will EV Churches. If you’re looking for a place with great people, you probably won’t find it, people are people.
It’s clear from everything I’ve read by you, that you condemn any judgment on Islam itself no matter the tactics used. Yet you can judge the intent of Catholics worldwide by a message board. Also you see no contradiction in your reasoning.
If you want to go then go, but have a little dignity on your way out. Take personal responsibility, and just go prayerfully and quietly.
Maybe you would like for it to be that, but if you read my post, it’s clear that this is not the case. “Father was mean” has nothing to do with it. The Priest recommending killing millions of people certainly did, though. I refuse to believe that a man genuinely licensed to dole out God’s grace could ever say such a thing. And I realize that the reason I refused to believe it then was that I already didn’t really believe. So, again, thank you for helping me to see that I had no cause to be angry and conflicted. The problem was that I was clinging to falsehood when I knew the truth was somewhere else. It’s the old, “Father was mean to me so I’m leaving” get over it and be a man.
Ah yes, a delightful little quote for a vicar of christ to put into wordsThey aren’t rioting because of us. They have been killing Christians long before the USA existed. Since Muhammeds time as the Pope pointed out. They are violent and angry when anyone says anything they don’t like or agree with. My words have never led to riots, mayhem, or violence. I simply said that if they knew that Mecca was in danger they would back off on nuking New York…
No moaning here. I am happy with my decision, and I certainly admire Islam. I actually feel better now, spiritually, than I have for years. I actually wish I could share that with you somehow…maybe if you could feel what I’m feeling, you wouldn’t be so angry that you fantasize about killing millions of people. Now you are running about moaning about how you are leaving Catholicism. Well heck, I was going to convert to Islam and your example and that of the Muslims persuaded me not to. Did I mention that before? Maybe I will repeat it 100 times so everyone will pay attention to it.
O.K. then go with dignity, be a man, this is very childish…Okay, wait a sec? Where am I blaming anyone? Have I given even the slightest indication that I am unhappy with my decision?
I’m quite happy with it. I take full personal responsibility for my decision, but I would be lying if I said no outside experiences helped me along in my search. I rejected Catholicism because it does not make sense to me and its teachings ring hollow.
I paused to reflect in large part because of the antics of its members, including a Priest on this board. At the time, I was certainly angry…I thought my religion was being tarnished. But I was wrong then, and I’m happy now to say that those who doubted me were right to do so. I was on my way out of the Church, and I wouldn’t admit it to myself. Now I know what was wrong all along the way.
Interesting. Do the Police in Spain routinely ask religion when making an arrest? Did you speak Spanish to him and ask him what his religion was during the struggle? Or did he “look Muslim”?You are consistant, because you are wrong now. Once in Spain I was the victim of an attempted mugging by a Muslim man. To his suprise I fought back and handed him over to the police. He picked the wrong kaffir to rob. But this experience of Islamic violence on my own person as well as your “antics” showed me the light about Islam and its violent nature. So I won’t join Islam. Or did I already mention that?
They are no better or worse than the Priests who advocate nuking mecca.Care to deal with some of the recent Muslim quotes on beheading the Pope, slitting throats, conquering Rome? I thought not.
Wait, I thought you handed him over to police? They are worse because they are actually planning to do it and will do it when they get the chance. I knew you wouldn’t comment on their words. Your outrage is selective. Typical liberal.
They didn’t ask. I figured I would just give him a penance and let him go. But he was Muslim, so that wouldn’t work. So I let him go after a brief sermon. I expect he learned nothing from my mercy and is still out there robbing people. Yes, the evil cestusdei showed mercy. When push comes to shove I am not a mean guy. If a Christian was caught doing the same thing in Saudi Arabia they would cut his hand off. Welcome to the wonderful world of Islam.
Again, more double standards.Do you consider yourself a representative of the Church?
If you do, what right do you have to call me on taking you at your word?
I know cestusdei is a representative of the Church…he’s a priest. I don’t feel even a twitch of unfairness judging the whole Church based a large sample of more knowledgeable members.
Now you have gone too far. Where did you hear a priest advocate nuking mecca? Not some vague reference, but specifics, please. Pardon most of us if we don’t believe you.Interesting. Do the Police in Spain routinely ask religion when making an arrest? Did you speak Spanish to him and ask him what his religion was during the struggle? Or did he “look Muslim”?
Sounds like a fable to me.
They are no better or worse than the Priests who advocate nuking mecca.
To be fair, there are a LARGE number of north Africans, both Christian and Muslim, in Spain that are desperately poor and have fled Africa to find better opportunities. A “mugging”, by definition, means that he wanted your wallet. He didn’t want you dead as an infidel. Now, I wasn’t there, so if this was an actual faith-based attack, you need to be more precise with your terminology. If it was simply a mugging, he may have simply been poor. Or… admittedly, he may have been a career thief. You are consistant, because you are wrong now.
Here is a further statement from the Muslim Shura Council:
“Allah will help Muslims conquer Rome…May Allah enable us to slit their throats, and make their money and descendents the bounty of the mujahadin.”
one thing i’ve taken from the posts on the islamic bruhaha…
while they aren’t the smartest people in the world… you have to give them a hat tip for being highly motivated people with a flair for creative writing…
if the average american were that motivated, we’d have bases on mars and titan and the country would be 100% on alternative energies by now.
in all seriousness… muslims are great at soundbytes that sound scary, but i really don’t think this will amound to much, we’re ready to start strikes on iran in a few weeks and with north korea and venezuala looking to brawl, the pressure will be off the Pope shortly.
Well done, Cestus, well done!Ok pro, in the spirit of this thread let’s see what kind of response you would get to your post:
Al-jezzerah September 12, 2007: Today it was reported that a Catholic apostate named Pro was sentenced to death by a Catholic tribunal. Despite protests from Islamic leaders he was put to death. Sheik Abdul Omar said, “it is incomprehesible in todays world that any would be killed for simply changing their religion…we Muslims would never do such a barbaric thing…there is something wrong with Catholics for doing that…where are the protests of the “moderate” Catholics I don’t see them protesting this atrocity.”
Cair-Catholics Against Ignorance and Reactionaries-said that execution of apostates was misunderstood and that it is part of all encompassing canon law. “Anyone who says this reflects Catholicism is a bigot and should be prosecuted” said Cair’s President Dan Fogerty. When asked why there were no protests from Catholic religious leaders or moderates he responded, “don’t question us, that’s hate speech.”
Catholics continued to riot over these unfortunate statements against their faith by Islamic leaders. The Pope stated that if someone refused to repent and insisted on leaving the faith then they must die. He said, “we are peaceful, and don’t you forget it, but we cannot tolerate these insults, the people have the right to express their anger, I tell you that we are not violent!”
#Pro, Hopefully you get the point. This kind of thing does NOT happen in Catholicism, but it does in Islam today.
Agreed, pro_dhimmi is a lost cause. At least until he decides to repent.I have come to the conclusion that it will be best for my sanity and temprament if I add ‘pro_universal’ to my ignore list. I would appreciate it if he did the smae for me. Now that I think about it maybe we should all just ignore him and them maybe he will go away and never return, unless he has a change of heart.
After waking up to the news that an Al-Qaida group has said the Pope and the West are “doomed”, I am happy at least, to see that others are putting “pro_universal” on their ignore lists so we soon won’t have to deal with his pro-Muslim posts in a Catholic forum. The only reason he continues is because we give him reason to. And I think we all deserve a safe-haven to discuss these serious issues without antagonizers.Agreed, pro_dhimmi is a lost cause. Done, and done.![]()
people give him a reason by still thinking he was Christian. After waking up to the news that an Al-Qaida group has said the Pope and the West are “doomed”, I am happy at least, to see that others are putting “pro_universal” on their ignore lists so we soon won’t have to deal with his pro-Muslim posts in a Catholic forum. You’re right, your’re right. I used to engage him, too, believing that he was a Catholic heavily influenced by our relativist society. But I think we’ve all reached the threshold of tolerance.people give him a reason by still thinking he was Christian.
