I often see posts which tell of perceived liturgical abuse (valid and no so valid), indeed I am guilt of it myself but I thought it would be nice to have a thread about what you really like and appreciate about parishes. Perhaps if we share all the good things going on we can also share ideas with our parishes and make things even better.

For me I love how, in the parish I attend, the Mass is celebrated at a dignified pace, the homily is always gives insight into the readings for the day, we celebrate and give thanks for achievements and special occasions as a Christian community and reflect when someone has died, we have time to socialise after Mass, our priest has a good sense of humour (vital in my opinion), we witnes to the Catholic faith through public acts and through our prayers and we have regular adoration and confession times, the music is a good combination of old and new, I could go on.

So what is good in your parish? What do you have that we could all maybe share and use to build a vibrant Catholic community? 🙂

I am a fan of the Traditional Latin Mass they don’t offer it at my parish though… I have to drive an hour to get to one… but it is worth the drive.

Our parish doesn’t have an adoration chapel but our neighboring parish does. right outside of it is like a little library of books that the church owns, it is very cool.

I am so grateful for our wonderful, holy priest who prays so hard during the mass and will hear confession at the drop of a hat. Also, for our very dedicated deacon who leads bible study and helps with social events.

For all of the dedicated older women (and men) who give so much of their time decorating the gym for events and setting up the gym for mass.

I could hug the dedicated group of ladies, the Guadalupenas, who cook delicious food after mass on some Sundays.

I love the beautiful view of the mountains that I can see from the window.

I’m so blessed! 🙂

I love our church and parish. It is very ornate and old fashioned. It is beautiful and white with carvings and life sized statues. It sets the tone for the Mass and reverence. It is not a large church, just done exceptionally well.

I love that we sing a lot, that our pastor does not sugar coat, and is very kind…his homilies are great.I love that our pastor is old school but very caring to everyone.

I love that before mass most people have out their rosaries praying, young and old alike. The members at our parish are very devout.

Even though the kid’s school parish is a different one, I would never leave my parish.

I am blessed to belong to a parish run by the Jesuits. We have three wonderful priests who all give great homilies and work very hard to support our church.
