Hello Catholic -Mormon,Someone who exercise priestcraft sets themselves up to be worshiped instead of God. True prophets should never point to themselves as the source of the light rather a tool like a candle stick that is holding it up for others to see. Mormon prophets have never set themselves up for worship or claimed they were the source of any light. The instead have tried to point people to God by setting a example of holding the light of Christ up.
I’ll be responding to the boldened part of your response.
Here is the definition of Priestcraft: He commandeth that there shall be no priestcrafts; for, behold priestcrafts are that men preach and set themselves up for a light unto the world, that they may get gain and praise of the
world; but they seek not the welfare of Zion. It doesn’t say that it involves the individual to be worshiped instead of God. In the two examples of priestcraft given in the BOM
“2 Nephi 10:5”: 5 But because of priestcrafts and iniquities, they at Jerusalem will stiffen their necks against him, that he be crucified.
Alma 1:12": 12 But Alma said unto him: Behold, this is the first time that priestcraft has been introduced among this people. And behold, thou art not only guilty of priestcraft, but hast endeavored to enforce it by the sword; and were priestcraft to be enforced among this people it would prove their entire destruction.
In neither of these two examples is there any indication that the individual set himself up to be worshiped.
If as a result of there good example people see them as a light I would agree. The definition of priestcrafts clearly condemns the preaching that an individual is a light.
