Let's talk about Mormonism

I’m not sure what you are asking. They don’t teach much about the Heavenly Mother. Just that there is one.

We had to come from somewhere. Our souls are the combination of out physical bodies and our spiritual bodies. Just as our physical bodies require both a father and a mother, our spiritual bodies also require a father and a mother. Our spirits are the offspring of our Heavenly Mother.

Don’t Mormons call the Heavenly Mother “Wisdom”? They also argue that God the Father had a human body like Jesus did and that the “Mother” (“Wisdom”) is the one who created everyone. At least, that’s what the Mormons on Amazon always said.

In all my years as an active member, I never heard of that one 😎

Yes, they do believe that God the Father not only had a mortal body at one time, but has an immortal body of flesh and bone today.

They also believe that the Apostle John is still alive walking the earth. Not a reincarnation of the Apostle John or the “Twelve” Mormon “prophets.” They believe the true Apostle John selected by Jesus Himself is still alive on this earth.

Yes I knew that. That brings up a lot of theological difficulties for them as well. They also believe that there are three Nephite disciples of Christ who are still alive.

Hold on a minute, if the Apostle John is still alive, how could the Church have gone into apostasy? Don’t they have this guy here to correct them? And also, if the Apostle John is still alive, why isn’t he currently one of the Apostles of the LDS church in Salt Lake City?

Exactly, Adam. Several of the posters in that thread tried to get them to pin down exactly where the Apostle John resided. And hey, let’s see some photos. Real proof that he’s still alive. They claimed he had become a Mormon and all kinds of fanciful tales. The more the non-Mormons demanded proof, the more hostile the Mormons became. How dare anyone dispute their word! After all, they, not the Catholic Church, are the true Church of Jesus Christ. After all, they have His name in the title.

Honestly, more than one non-Mormon poster in the Mormon threads found these incredulous posts laughable. If any of the Mormons from Amazon show up here (Gaylen, Niv, Robert Winn, etc), they’d tell you all about how he is still alive and yada yada. And Robert Winn will tell you how the BOM is more important than the Bible and their “prophets” more important than Jesus. My views about their posts, many of which I still have because they were so incredulous, aren’t repeatable. But this should suffice.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Well, don’t you know the Book of Mormon is the most correct of any book ever written?

LOL. It is to them, anyway. They need it to explain the Bible to them.😱

There was no mocking in my post, Theo. If I were to share their posts here, you would realize that I’ve posted their exact words.

I’m guessing Theo isn’t following the conversation, given the amount of proselytising from Mormons on here. Over 600 posts, I mean that’s a lot to read. So let me summarise it for you, Mormon discussion, and Mormons trying to make us Mormon.

Well, a topic on their faith in the non-Catholic Religions subforums should be expected to get their posts, talking about their faith (from their perspective).

Your comment sounds as if you think they are doing something untoward.

I don’t think that the rank and file members are doing anything untoward. I cannot say the same about their leaders.

Do you know the definition of mocking?

It hardly excludes repeating what someone has stated. In fact it’s usually an essential prerequisite, with some added commentary.

I, for one, still want to know exactly where the Apostle John is living since they believe he’s still alive. I’d like to know what he thinks of modern technology and so many other things. Also holding out for a photo.

If you think that valid questions like these are mockery, Theo, then you haven’t followed the discussion. In my experience, Mormons don’t like the hard questions being directed to them. They have a certain script they have to follow and get quite flustered if you throw them a curve ball.
