I was just reading on CARM that Jesus sacrifice failed to forgive our sins and that salvation is only through Joseph Smith.
Sort of . . . sort of not. Mormons believe that the Mormon Jesus forgives our sins, except in the case of major sins when both Jesus and the Mormon Church must forgive them for you to be forgiven. Salvation does not come through Joseph Smith, but he is the gate keeper and will be the one to stamp your passport to the Celestial Kingdom where God the Father reigns.
Jesus’ sacrifice was not able to cleanse us from all our sins, (murder and repeated adultery . . .
I think that you are saying that there are unforgivable sins such as murder and serial adultery, but that would be a very untenable position for the Mormon church to take given the multitude of women that Joseph Smith had affairs with.
There is no salvation without accepting Joseph Smith as a prophet of God (Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 1, p. 188).
Correct
God had sexual relations with Mary to make the body of Jesus, (Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, vol. 4, 1857, p. 218; vol. 8, p. 115). This one is disputed among many Mormons and not always ‘officially’ taught and believed. Nevertheless, Young, the 2nd prophet of the Mormon church taught it.
That’s one of those things that the Mormons can’t decide on. While I was raised in the Church, I clearly remember being taught that God had physical sex with Mary, but she was considered a virgin because she knew no mortal man. Mormons may have backed off this position now in order to be politically correct as a manner of speaking. What they do believe is that while the process was natural, i.e., God inseminated Mary, how that was done is unknown. It could have been artificial insemination. The mechanics of the process are now considered to be unclear, contrary to what early church leaders taught.
That’s just part of the evolution of Mormonism. There was at least one Black general authority in the early church, but they changed their mind and stopped letting them hold the priesthood or attend the temple, because “darkies” were now the seed of Cain. Now, they act like they don’t know where that came from, as if they suddenly shed their bigotry. Negative revelation changed all of that. (Plus the fact that they were about to open a new temple in Brazil, where almost everyone has some darkie blood in them.)
The same with the translation of the Book of Mormon. First, it was JS translating the plates using the urim and thummim and then it was a rock in a hat with no plates even in the room.
The examples are almost endless. It’s no wonder you’re so confused. When you make up lies and cover them with more lies, pretty soon you have a hill that can no longer be hidden.
