So far none of the news coming forth from the House of Mouse makes me say:

“I’ve got a bad feeling about this”

sorry.

lol, we’ll just have to wait and see. All I will bet on is that they’ll have that line in the next film. 😃

Any thoughts on what the new episodes could be like?
My initial thought when I heard Disney bought Lucasfilms was; o great the new ones will probably be worse than the prequels if Disney is making it. Now I’m not so sure.
Personally I do not think Disney will ruin it in terms of making it kidish etc… Yes they are in for a profit, but that can be a good thing. Disney can not afford to ruin this beloved franchise due to how many many fans it would tick off, which could result in them boycotting Disney.

As for as choices who to own it Disney is a good/the best one out their. Afterall they have a Star Wars ride there. Makes me wonder if/are they going to do a new section to Disney Land calling it Star Wars Land, with say a ful size millennium falcon, ATT, Endor Death Star etc…
Man if they had that/did that, I would so be willing to go there.

There has been a LOT of chatter about an expansion to the Disney Hollywood Studios park in FL to create a larger Star Wars area.

A recent announcement on the official Star Wars website is that Michael Arndt was selected to write the screenplay for the next movie (episode VII)

Arndt won an Oscar for writing Little Miss Sunshine and was nominated for an Oscar for writing Toy Story III

So far so good. The only thing I didn’t like about Toy Story 3 was it was a little dark for children. I wouldn’t mind seeing that with Star Wars though.

I haven’t seen TS3 but it sounds like the ending was really sad.

With the exception of Episode II, i’m probably one of the few who didn’t mind the prequels, Episode III just may be my favorite of them all 6 movies. I recall just sitting there a good 10 minutes in the theater after Episode III ended soaking it all in as to what I just saw.

Its somewhat a matter of taste. A lot of people do like the prequels though.

Regardless of the quality of the film, many just didn’t want to see Anakin as a whiny idiot, which he was portrayed as. It made his transformation much less tragic then it could have been. Nothing in the movie made me want to feel bad for him in the first place. His life as a slave really never appeared very difficult, heck he was able to get enough parts to build a robot, he was privileged to leave slavery and become a Jedi, he was very intelligent and gifted, he received a very good and caring mentor which was Obi Wan.

I wanted to see a likable good man who slowly was seduced to the dark side. The Romance was also very annoying but maybe thats what George Lucas wanted. Maybe he wanted to show a confused, flawed, and ignorant human was lost in the power that was given to him as a jedi. One thing that doesn’t add up with that is Padme shouldn’t have been so stupid, she is a politician and had a lot of experience with the world. She shouldn’t have been so taken in by Anakin.

Combined with the often boring cinematography, the abundance of political scenes, jar jar binks, inconsistency with the originals, useless characters, Gungans, over use of CGI, it just made for a not too enjoyable film.

Episode 3 was darker and the story actually went somewhere. That is why people like it. It was darker not because they realized the fans weren’t getting what they wanted but because it had to be. Darth Vader’s final turn to the dark side had to be dark. The story moved along quickly because it was the end and they had to tie it up. I enjoyed episode 3 a lot when I first saw it but I realize its on the same level as the other films prequels.

I am not trying to force my opinion on you, its just a movie enjoy what you enjoy.

You should check out Toy Story 3 though, it was quite enjoyable.

Okay, so word is out that Mark Hammill, Carie Fisher and Harrison Ford are all willing to return to the new movies or at least A movie. Many people seem to be under the impression that ep VII will be between the original episodes similar to The Force Unleashed series, however, since no official word has been released, I was just curious how all of you think the next films will be set up. I find it hard to believe that Disney would backtrack in the saga, but who knows?

I think it’s still way too early to have any official idea. They just announced the movies a couple weeks ago and even more recently announced a screen writer. Perhaps they have some ideas, but it’s probably all too fluid to pin anything down just yet.

As far as I can tell, they are going to be approaching these new films with a clean slate. They don’t seem particularly obligated to follow any of the books that are out there. I wouldn’t be surprised for them to at least utilize them in some respect, but probably not to such an extent that anyone can really guess the plot of the movies. I would think that if they utilize them at all it would be mostly to plant easter eggs for diehard fans rather than to glean any major plot points.

My guess is that Episode VII will pick up relatively real-time as compared with Episode VI (i.e., about 30 years later).

My only concern is; if they make these movies, don’t they need to have some familiar characters to draw in the audience? The robots or droids notwithstanding, I don’t think the regular moviegoer will be very interested if no one is familiar with the characters. The Star Wars saga has been about the Skywalker family. If Luke, Han and Leia are in their 60s and 70s how interesting can it be? We don’t need another ‘‘Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’’. Most fans probably won’t take kindly to new, younger actors taking over those roles, so unless they use motion capture, to make the actors look young again, Star Wars seems to be in a difficult situation. Maybe they’ll introduce Jaina, Jacen and Anakin Solo and Ben Skywalker, with their parents in minor roles? Anyway, it’s fun to speculate.

Oh, I think the name “Star Wars” will be more than enough to draw in billions of dollars. 😛

I think you’re probably right about them using their kids and putting the parents in more minor roles. I guess we’ll see, though. Christopher Lee still did pretty well and he was older then than any of the others are now. 🙂

Getting past some of the historical issues as well as age issues can be difficult.

Some ways around it might include Leia, Luke and Han as older parents to the next generation of Jedi.

A moving tribute by Yoda recorded before his death of the dangers of too much power in the hands of too few “Dangerous it can be. Need only look at the Empires ethnic cleansing on Naboo do we to see the dangers of allowing the power to completely eradicate a race from the universe”

This gets in some political points as well as removing the stain of the Gungans from the Star Wars universe forever.

We’ll see how it goes since the script writer of Toy Story 3 is doing the script for Episode Vll.

Oddly enough I had a dream that there was a new Star Wars film with the old actors about a month before it was announced. 😃

I guess the old cast returning could be interesting. I still hope they’ll just do something completely new though.
