definition of facetious:

1. not meant to be taken seriously or literally: a facetious remark.
2. amusing; humorous.
3. lacking serious intent; concerned with something nonessential, amusing, or frivolous: a facetious person.

If he was an ex JW, then why does he list his profile as such?

There was a sign in the sky and with the words “CONQUER BY THIS”.
That night in a dream he saw Jesus telling him to use the chi-rho sign “as a safeguard in all battles”. Constantine ordered it to be put on all his soldiers shields and won the battle. The symbol is made of the first two letters of ‘Christ’ in Greek chi (x) and rho (p).
He was baptized in his old age after learning about Christianity. Constantine and his mother built great churches in the Holy Land to mark the places where Jesus was born, taught and buried.
He called a meeting of Catholic bishops at Nicaea in 325 that decided what a Christian was, and what christians should believe.
Most of the Roman emporers that came after Constantine were Catholic Christians. under them Christianity became the official religion.

Because he hasn’t started RCIA yet. I agree that his profile is confusing, but if you take the time to really read thru his posts, it’s pretty obvious that he doesn’t agree with the JW teachings.

I don’t want to come off like a meanie, but you should know that some of your posts come off very arrogant even tho you may not intend for them to.

Oh well…if my posts are very arrogant, what are A’s posts in Atheist 2 threads? If you want to complain about someone, you’ll have to list several people on these threads. Worry about your own soul.

SyCarl took the time to post a thoughtful response and all you did was shoot back an argument without addressing his points. That is not debate or dialogue. From what I’ve seen in this thread and your “sinner’s prayer” thread, you are not here to dialogue and debate. You treat this forum as a play ground where kids simply yell taunts back and forth. Many of us won’t go there.
You are a devout Catholic who is very proud of your choice. We get that. Good for you and may God bless you. I am a very open-minded Protestant that is here to learn and listen. You and your approach make that difficult. Don’t be surprised if we choose not to engage you.

I really dont think that there is a need for you to do this pointless strutting and proclaiming “my church is better than yours”, it doesnt solve anything.

I agree with you. The notion “my church is better than yours” or “we are the only true church/Christians” is the greatest obstacle for reunification of the 32000+ denominations.

Can’t one leave such notions and let the Holy Spirit work, if there is any with such denominations, for unity ( including the Catholics and Orthoxes)?

We don’t boast “my church is better than yours”, we simply state “my church is the right church”.

One has to see what others understand from a sentence. I have no problem if you say “my church is the right church” but if you say " We are the only true Christians" that would wedge a distance, rather than to close it.

I seem to recall the history of my people starting, more or less:

“In the beginning of God’s creating the skies and the earth…”

I have to admit that when I try to go back a little further from that point of refernece, things tend to get a bit murky

Yes, of course and I love the Old Testament. But now there is the New and the New is what you must try and focus on. It is Christ. It is the Messiah. I realize the Jews do not believe in Christ, that He was the Messiah and lives, so if you do not think that Christ was the Messiah, how long do you think you’ll wait for one?? It seems like an eternity for you all waiting when He is already here.

Yes Valke, you are right. How long must we all wait. Although it states in the Bible these are the end of times as we know them. Furthermore, all the prophets of the OT foretold Jesus’s coming, yet you still refuse to believe.
