Suddenly the age of your faith isn’t so important the instant you run into someone who practices a religion four thousand years older.

No, I am talking about Jesus. The New Testament. The OT was made talking and foretelling the birth of our Savior hundreds of years before Christ. And?

I hope that your faith sustains you and that you do a lot of good in this world and leave it a better place. I think that one can objectively look at both christianity and Judaism, it isn’t difficult to see that both faith’s can make the above more possible.

To take Judaism out of the picture, I’d say the same thing is possible whehter one is Catholic or Protestant. Just like everythign else that we’ve been given by God, we can use free will to make it work or to make it fail.

I love, truly love the OT. My favorite is Jeremiah when he tries very hard not to think about God, but cannot get God out of his mind no matter what he does. Especially when Jeremiah says “Lord, you have duped me, and I let myself be duped, you are in my bones, my mind etc…”
I also love Isaiah, who foretold the coming of Jesus Christ 700 years before He came. I love most of the OT, but quite frankly, you musn’t take it literally. That doesn’t mean I don’t believe it, of course I do but it has been translated a gazillion times.
