Pax et bonum!
Have you ever had any expeience with the Liberal Catholic Churches?
Have you ever had any expeience with the Liberal Catholic Churches?
They seem to be an offshoot of the Old Catholic groups.saintcatherinestl.org/index.html
Here is the website of the fake church. They clearly state in their FAQs that they are a real Catholic church and attempt to suggest that they are an alternative rite to the Roman rite.
I bet our Orthodox bretheren might find that surprising.Men **and women **are ordained to the priesthood in the Catholic and Orthodox Churches, as the sacrament confers upon the priest the character to act in the person of Christ - in persona Christi.
can you define what you mean by that term? there is no official body that uses that name, to my knowledge.Pax et bonum!

There you go, no ifs or buts. You follow the whole teaching. Read the CCC!can you define what you mean by that term? there is no official body that uses that name, to my knowledge.
there is only one Catholic Church. period. end of sentence.
other bodies, even if they insist on using the term “catholic” are either fully in union with the Pope and therefore fully Catholic, no adjectives. or they are separated willfully from his authority and hence are schismatic. Or they are formal heretics and have been declared such by the Pope.
Another group thinking they know more than the Church.stsclareandfrancis.org/site/welcome-to-sts-clare-francis
This is another fake Catholic church, but at least they have the charity to say so on their website, right on the homepage.
Well there is, actually: liberalcatholic.com/Church_of_St_Francis,_Rector_Site/Why_TLCC.htmlcan you define what you mean by that term? there is no official body that uses that name, to my knowledge.

They, at least, appear to have SOME pangs of conscience about usurping the name ‘catholic’ by clearly stating that they are separated from Rome. Judging by their website, they’re pretty much separated from christianity too…![]()
Can you elaborate more on what you mean by this? I am curious, because I am aware of One Holy Catholic Apostolic Church, but not a division within it known as liberal.Pax et bonum!

They call themselves Catholic, but if you read the “about the accus” link they have a disclaimer stating that they are not under the jurisdiction of the Roman Catholic Church, therefore not in full communion with the Pope. They can claim to be Catholic all they want, doesn’t mean that they are.Actually, there are several churches in the U,S. which are called Catholic.
Here is one:

what do you mean? The term “Liberal Catholic” is particularly galling. I have met a few of them. They are really closer to being Theosophical Anglicans than Liberal Catholics. Sort of Anglicanism of the early 20th Century tinged with what then would be sort of new-age.
and many Independet Orthodox churches as well?Actually, there are several churches in the U,S. which are called Catholic.
they are not in communion with Rome but they are accepting the fact that Benedict XVI could be the Pope as they ussualy are open to the fact that all religions lead to GodThey call themselves Catholic, but if you read the “about the accus” link they have a disclaimer stating that they are not under the jurisdiction of the Roman Catholic Church, therefore not in full communion with the Pope.
