I’m wondering Rick, how you could possibly feel you’re right. Or qualified to express such counsel. Arrogance is not restricted to only those unhappy with the current state of the Liturgy it seems. You really should look internally…
Because it wasn’t long ago that I used the same arguments against the SSPX. It wasn’t long ago that I happily attended Mass in the Ordinary Form–not a perfect Celebration, but a pretty darned good one. ANd not that I didn’t have to look around to find it.
Up until recently I could count on both hands the number of Indult TLM’s I have attended in my 4 decades as a Catholic.
But a Reverent and Sober Liturgy should not be the exception. It should be the rule. I have no doubt that the Novus Ordo is a perfectly Valid, Holy and Pleasing-to-God Form of the Mass. I also have no doubt that the Mass I attend with the SSPX is valid, although illicit. I am also quite certain that I cannot afford the drive each week to the only TLM offered in this Diocese. The one thing that I am not sure of the licitness of the Masses being celebrated in this area for reasons I have already cited.
If you are untouched by such irreverence in your area, do as the Samarian who was healed of Leprosy in today’s Gospel. Return and offer Praise and Thaksgiving. Because such Reverence isn’t to be found here.
If I will choose the lesser of two evils, I will choose the Reverent and Sober choice.
And if you don’t mind my counsel: remove the speck from your own eye before attempting to remove the one from mine.
