You really should look internally…
I’m wondering Rick, how you could possibly feel you’re right. Or qualified to express such counsel. Arrogance is not restricted to only those unhappy with the current state of the Liturgy it seems.

Because it wasn’t long ago that I used the same arguments against the SSPX. It wasn’t long ago that I happily attended Mass in the Ordinary Form–not a perfect Celebration, but a pretty darned good one. ANd not that I didn’t have to look around to find it.

Up until recently I could count on both hands the number of Indult TLM’s I have attended in my 4 decades as a Catholic.

But a Reverent and Sober Liturgy should not be the exception. It should be the rule. I have no doubt that the Novus Ordo is a perfectly Valid, Holy and Pleasing-to-God Form of the Mass. I also have no doubt that the Mass I attend with the SSPX is valid, although illicit. I am also quite certain that I cannot afford the drive each week to the only TLM offered in this Diocese. The one thing that I am not sure of the licitness of the Masses being celebrated in this area for reasons I have already cited.

If you are untouched by such irreverence in your area, do as the Samarian who was healed of Leprosy in today’s Gospel. Return and offer Praise and Thaksgiving. Because such Reverence isn’t to be found here.

If I will choose the lesser of two evils, I will choose the Reverent and Sober choice.

And if you don’t mind my counsel: remove the speck from your own eye before attempting to remove the one from mine.

I think you have misunderstood the reasons for my visits. 4 months ago I was transferred into this Diocese. I was trying to find a Parish which was faithful to the Church. I spent weeks in some, months in others. … I can promise you I hadn’t gone looking for anything but a Catholic Mass.
Oh, I’m sorry, I wasn’t trying to accuse you of doing such. I was simply saying that I haven’t been to 12 nearby parishes, and so I could only provide examples from 2 parishes for ethelzguy. I apologize if you took my post the wrong way. I wouldn’t assume you went to parishes seeking abuses! That’s terribly masochistic. 😦

maybe…but the reference to ‘12 Parishes’ is a reference to my experiences in this Diocese.
ethelzguy also mentioned 12 parishes, which is the only reason I used the same number. I assure you, I was not implying anything about your situation.

Priests and Deacons consistently beginning certain prayers with “The Lord is with you”.
That one bothers me, because it is a concrete example of the change from a voice of supplication and entreating to a voice of presumption and demanding.

. . . Priests and Deacons consistently beginning certain prayers with “The Lord is with you” . . …
I f one would not be judgmental, the only reasonable response would seem to be: “And maybe with you.” 😃

If people continue to make personal judgments about one another in this thread I will have to close it. Argue the issues, people. Do not attack each other personally. Thank you.

Oh my gosh, Ms. Moderator, thank you so much!! I started this thread with an honest question for help and it completely deteriorated into pointless, childish bickering. I
