Liberalism in the Catholic Church

Excuse me for saying so but I think that you are kind of begging the question. It’s kind of like a parent allowing a child to do something that would be very bad for her with the excuse that she might do it anyway when the parent’s back is turned. I consider that quite bad parenting.
A rotten individual can come out of a great family with great parenting just as a good and holy person can come out of the most dysfunctional family. There are no set rules. But we are in the age of narcissism and an age which goes against Christian morality. Unfortunately, in spite of things, people are going to do what they want. Those who made the decision were adults. They have the free will to accept or reject the teachings of the Church on that issue. Better catechesis is needed to hopefully reverse the trend. We’ve lost two generations already due to very poor teaching of the Faith.

Yes, this true. But that does not excuse the clergy who copped out on their responsibilities to teach the truth.

Peace of Christ,

One can point the finger back and forth. The reality is that there is disunity in our church. Collectively we have fractured our consciences. Hipocrosy, anger everywhere, even among many who post on this very site.

We don’t have to worry, we are doing it our way. If you think we are contrite, or even know what sin is anymore, just look to the lines going to confession. The devil is laughing at us. We are playing into his hands as we buy into his lies.

The clock is ticking for us all and I ask you what are we going to do? Our salvation is a day by day process and along the path there are many road blocks. The finish line is drawing closer and closer, victory is almost within our grasp…

I recognize that each person is responsible for her/his own decision. Everyone COULD have found out for themselves the truth of the teachings of the Church in the matter of contraception. However I still think that a good start to make things better for everyone would be for the clergy who copped out, to admit and apologize.

The bottom line is still that we all had responsibility in making the wrong choices Because we did, it led to the liberalism that exists now.

I agree. And most of those clergy left the Church and abandoned their calling anyway.

Well it’s very sad if this is the case! God being all merciful would have forgiven and will forgive.

But it drives me crazy how many people think that being a Christian is refusing to see wrong. We are not doing anyone a favour by hiding the fact that wrong was done in the name of the Church. Jesus said ‘The truth will make you free’.

I like the way Father Corapi openly speaks of the sexual abuse that has happened within the Church. He admits that it was wrongly handled. We all need to face the truth and then things can be laid to rest and get on with the present.

Don’t think it’s over yet. Wait until they start on the religious orders. It will make the diocesan scandal pale in comparison! We are in for a rough ride the next few years.

It all comes down to forgiveness. We must forgive the priests who went astray. For if we cannot forgive them how can we expect God to forgive us?

The conversion to the true teachings of our church is also the lay community’s responsability. Each of us who follow Catholic orthodoxy have a moral obligation to bring others back to Jesus’ true teachings. I do this whenever I can, sometimes I alienate people but I don’t care. If we love Jesus we must love one another.
We have to care about the salvation of other souls. If we are only worried about our own salvation then we are thinking only about ourself. To the degree that we lose ourselves in service to others is the degree that we become humble and draw closer to God.

This has to begin today for all of us.

God Bless you.

Of course we have to forgive our priests. But don’t you see what I’m saying? We have to deal with the truth and help others to deal with the truth. How can anyone be forgiven if he or she won’t face the truth of what they did? THE TRUTH WILL MAKE YOU FREE.

Read what I said again please. Let go of your anger and preach the truth to all. It is wrong to take contraceptives, it is wrong to have an abortion, it is wrong to miss Mass, it is wrong not to believe in the real presence in the Eucharist. It is wrong not to go to confession.

Yes indeed the truth will set you free, so go out and preach the truth. And yes, there are good priests who are doing that. They are not all bad. They do need our help. Please join with me and others, both priests and the lay community. Together we will bring others back to the church that Jesus started 2000 years ago. It all begins one soul at a time.

Don’t you dare let the devil squeeze you out of the church. There is a war out there raging for souls. You know there is an assault on the truth and goodness. Only the truth as you so forcefully stated, will set us all free!

I am not angry. ** ‘Judge not that you shall not be judged’**

alanjeddy,

You would do well to listen a bit more and preach less. You’re repeating everything that I already said in different words.

Peace of Christ,
Shiphrae

I am not just passing judgement on the vast numbers of Catholics who are not practicing the fullness of their faith. I am preaching to them but above all, I am praying for them. Please pray for me that I will be guided by the Holy Spirit. The clock is ticking for you and for me and for everyone.

True Christian charity demands fraternal correction.
True! I like your quote, Buffalo I think that Pope Benedict is an amazing man. I’m reading his book ‘Jesus of Nazareth’. Actually I read it twice already. It needs much studying. It is very deep!

Peace in Christ,

Shiphrae,

Hi Alan,

I don’t understand what all the above Latin phrases mean but may the peace of Christ be with you too.

Shiphrae

You did real well!

Pax Domini sit semper tecum = The peace of the Lord be always with you.

Beai qui ad cenam Agni vocati sunt= Blessed are they who are called to the Lamb’s supper (meal)

Ora pro nobis= Pray for us.

I have taught my wife the Our Father in latin and she is also learning the Hail Mary in latin. She wants to eventually recite the rosary in latin with me. It connects us with antiquity.

Hope you are having a good one. May God continue to bless, protect, and guide you, today and always.

Alan

That’s great Alan! 🙂

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend with your family! And please pray for me and my family as well.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Peace of Christ,
Shiphrae

I think that there is a fine line between finding fault in others and being vigilant and aware of the truth of what is going on in our community and for that matter in the whole world. Yes, we should not always be negative and picky with our neighbour but on the other hand we have to be ever aware of the truth.

The devil works on people who go by the old adage ‘see no evil, hear no evil, …’. He can work his evil ways very easily under those conditions. He has free rein. Much of the liberalism that exists now within the Church is easy to miss. It’s very subtle. That’s exactly what makes it so dangerous.

We need to fight the good fight and not let the Church be ignored because some people want to run things their own way. Jesus said, ‘I am the Good Shepherd and I know my flock and my flock knows me’. Then he entrusted all to Peter. So we must follow His leadership and keep watch. We must lead the whole Church back to Him.

Peace of Christ,
Shiphrae 🙂
