Life after death issue

Hello!
After my grandma’s death, I have started to think that there is no life after death. But my Catholic faith teach me that we have a life after death. I am really unsure about it, because we do not have any evidence of that there is a life after deathm
So my question is why do you believe that there is life after death? How can we be so sure because I ask a priest ones, do you believe in life after death, and he responded, no.
i don’t want to question my faith, because I know that it’s a sin, but sometimes I just can’t ignore that issue!

Its not a sin to question your faith, how will it grow if you dont ask questions?

I believe in life after death, that I will never die but become one with the Lord… what exactly that means I have no idea, but it helps me to not fear death or that I am alone.

Why a priest would just say no to your question… is weird… IMO

I am not sure what kind of priest would say that doesn’t believe in the afterlife if he was a Catholic priests. At mass we recite the “Nicene Creed” that has at the end has the following:
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen.
Our spirit or soul will be separated from our physical bodies at our death but this will be a temporary situation. Our bodies will be resurrected at the end of this age and reunited with our souls. Then those that died in friendship with GOD will live in eternal bliss and those who rejected HIM will be sent to hell forever.

A question is a question, it’s not a sin to ask a question about your faith.

I believe there was a person, an intelligence which existed before all things. That intelligence, that being created this logical universe where everything is governed by laws, most of which we can all understand to some degree.

I believe that being wants us to know Him, & He’s been revealing Himself to us from the beginning. The ultimate expression of that revelation came in the person of Jesus Christ, true God, true man.

I believe Jesus died, was buried, rose again & ascended into heaven.

I believe He has prepared a place for me & for you. I believe God hears our prayers & answers our prayers especially when asked through the Church, through His Saints.
 
Just because you was born with this knowledge doesn’t mean everyone else was…sometimes a person has to be told to just expel all doubts and place their trust in the Lord… and in order from us to know who to tell that too, a person needs to ask.

God created us with free will and an immortal soul. So it follows that after our earthly death, there is an afterlife. And by the way, it is not just Christians that believe in the immortality of the soul, even pagans like Aristotle did.
 
But isn’t it the case that even some devout Catholics, for example Mother Teresa, have experienced what is called the dark night of the soul, which is a protracted period of doubt? I imagine it is not always so easy to simply cast aside such doubts in a short period of time.
 
I will attempt to answer your question as to what works for me. Life after death is a belief that comes as a result/built upon of the rest of our faith. We come to believe in Go and we see God as the God of Abraham in the Old Testament. We believe in Jesus Christ as out savior, and in His teachings and the authority of His Church. Bother Jesus and the Church assure us of life after death. So believing in life after death is a non issue if we are Catholics and accept the faith of our fathers.
 
No, the dark night if the soul is not doubt, it is rather a feeling of God’s absence.
 
I agree with the church’s teachings on faith are solid and in line with Jesus Christ and his teachings because he gave his teachings to his disciples and then they have passed it down through the centuries.

I also believe in life after death
 
I believe there is life after death because I believe in Jesus Christ Our Lord. He suffered and died for us and then rose from the dead! The apostles who were witness to that were willing to suffer martyrs’ death rather than deny Him!

He died and rose for us! If we pick up our cross in this life and follow Him, then we too will rise glorious on the last day. And, I remember being taught that when we die our soul is separated from our body and we either go to be with the Lord, or, if we choose to be without Him by unrepentant sin, that would be hell.

At the end of time our souls will be reunited with our bodies, and then will go to either heaven or hell with our bodies.

This life and all its strife and sufferings makes no sense without the message of love and redemption of Jesus Christ Our Lord!

That is correct. Faith without feelings. When we cling to faith when not having sensible feelings of faith, that is when we grow spiritually.
 
Yes, it is a feeling of despair, melancholia, and emptiness, in which one is detached from G-d. Not exactly doubt concerning the existence of G-d, but I would say it consists of doubt with regard to your own attachment to G-d and your worthiness of G-d’s love. Although it is an existential or spiritual depression, it is also transformative in the sense that when one emerges from the dark night of the soul, according to G-d’s own time, one feels a renewed sense of spiritual well-being and growth.

Here’s what works for me: First, I believe that God exists. This I believe not just out of blind faith, but for specific reasons that I don’t have space for at the moment. Second, I believe that God created us because he loves us. Third, I believe that God has the power to give us eternal life. Together these three convince me that there is life after death.

On Christmas we remember the birth of Jesus. This is a joyful occasion because it was by Jesus’ birth that heaven and earth are joined, God and man are joined, and eternal life is possible. Rejoice!
 
I do - I am just not sure what is there - lots of people have died and come back and told people what they saw unfortunately no one wants to listen and there is a profound change in these people after the experience- their personality and outlook on life changes they no longer worry or fear death - but go ahead write it all off as garbage.
