Thirty-five years ago, I worked in a pet store that sold snakes (I kept snakes at home back then too, but that’s another story). I learned that all sorts of people were deathly afraid of snakes. Even some big tough biker-looking guys and muscle-bound football-player types would lose their composure and back away shaking in fear when they passed the snakes enclosures.
 
Ophiophobics unite! I don’t know why they let these things lurk in places where people might walk past. I’m living in the Australian “bush” and there’s a sign near a grassy area at the HOSPITAL warning you about snakes spotted there. At least if you get bitten you’re in the right place?!
