Under the Communist regime in Albania, religion was outlawed.
“They let me finish the mass but arrested me straight afterwards and showed me my death warrant,” he said.
“‘They screwed the handcuffs on so hard they cut into my flesh,’ he said. ‘I fainted… God saved me.’”
They sentenced him to 18 years forced labor. But he continued to preach to the other prisoners.
The only survivor of his country’s clergy, the Pope “wanted to kiss my hand. I pushed him away.”
In November 2016, the Pope made him a cardinal.

I read the linked article. This is a perfect example of secular tyranny. this cardinal experienced it in a deeply painful and vindictive way, but we face it in small ways every day, in the US. In other countries it is painful in many different ways, in lack of food or medicine due to political oppression, for example.
