My son had one and ended up throwing it in a drawer. Being somewhat digitally challenged, I never did get one, so, no big deal as far as I’m concerned.

Not only don’t I have one, I don’t have a television or radio, either, and I’m perfectly happy. Amazing how much more relaxed I am without the constant noise and distraction.

actually, my brother works for RIM and he told me that the black berry won’t be gone from the US.

All that RIM has to do to avoid this problem technically is remove the subject line from messages. that won’t be very nice for US customers but at least you won’t lose it.

I can live without Blackberry, but I gots to have a piece of raspberry cobbler once in a while 😛

(Are you kidding? I don’t even have a cellphone.)

What does a blackberry do exactly? Actually, I don’t need to know! I don’t have a television or telephone so why would I need a blackberry? I love the peace and quiet of mind and home.

BTW, not having television has really brought me so much closer to God - it’s unbelievable!

The whole nation should try it! Television is evil - and so is constantly gossiping to people whether it’s by telephone, email, or blackberry.

Users shudder to think.

Can Blackberry (aka Crackberry) users go cold turkey?
Are you a user? Are you addicted?

CRACKBERRY!!! I love it!!! HAHAAAAAAHHHHHAAAAA!!!
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

My boyfriend is addicted. He’s the main IT guy at the law firm where we’re both employed. Sometimes when a group of our co-workers go out to lunch, we have to make him leave it behind or else he will answer emails during the lunch hour.

You can’t do those things on the computer?! Some might argue with you that the internet is far more evil - but not me, I love my TV, my PC and my mobile phone. Please don’t take any of them away from me. 😉

To answer your question, a blackberry functions as an email device/phone. They used to make them solely for email, but now they have mobile phone and PDA capabilities.

Although my PDA is Blackberry compatable, I have had no reason to use it.

Personally, I’ve seen more cell phone addicts than Blackberry addicts. Apparently, a cell phone can never be turned off and must be answered no matter where you are or who you are talking to when it rings. (Are confessions interrupted by cell phones?) But Blackberry addicts are just as compulsive. Must keep in touch. Can the office, the home, the world, continue to function if I don’t respond to this email immediately?

Our management team across Canada (About 50 of us) decided to test these blackberrys about a year ago. We had them for a 3 months and here are the conclusions we reached.
  1. Great because you can be reached anytime anywhere
  2. Terrible because you can be reached anytime anywhere
  3. On average we really only received about 1 to 2 really time sensitive emails per week. The customers could have phoned us just as easy.
  4. We were starting to lose the personal realtionships with our clients that we took years to create. High Tech without High Touch is deadly to business.
  5. We were wasting time answering email while we sat in the washroom (not joking)
  6. Do you really have to check your email while you are watching your kids play hockey or soccer? Do you really have to check your email while your out to dinner with your spouse.
We decided to drop the idea because work is work and home is home. When one starts to interfere with the other it causes problems. In fact not only did we decide to not go in this direction, our IT department will not support them. So if you get one, your on your own.

I used to be so into gadgets and now I only need one. Get an IPOD, start downloading podcasts from EWTN and other Catholic pocasts. Then get on audible.com and start downloading books on your IPOD and you will be set.

That about sums it up.

I love this idea. Hope it catches on.
