on 5/24/05 NBC aired a report that some morticians are now offering a service of turning your loved ones cremains into diamonds called LIFEGEMS, at a price of course
what do you think??
what do you think??
I thought it was ok to get cremated now? I certainly don’t want to be buried.against canon law, remains must be buried, interred properly in a suitable repository, or buried at sea in compliance with civil laws and canon law.
Dear Scout,Why would it be more disrespectful to have a gem than to have someone buried in the ground? The only difference is one is tradition and the other isn’t. We go to cemeteries and talk to our loved ones because we think they are there and they can hear us. The body can be destroyed, though. It is the soul of the person that remains eternal, and that soul isn’t in the grave. It is the soul that makes the person unique, not the body.
I don’t know that it would be something that I would want to do, but if someone else wants to do it then feel free. It’s just the body, which accounts for nothing.
Just my opinion.

A person’s body is the temple of the Holy Spirit while that person is alive. When that person’s soul has departed, the body no longer holds the Holy Spirit. The body is like a box for a diamond ring. Once the ring is out of the box, the box itself is pretty worthless.Dear Scout,
Do you believe the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, while a person is alive? Should we honor that temple, after the Spirit has departed?
Is slavery okay with you? What happens if your parents are made into lifegems and then one day they end up in an estate auction?
If God wants to make us gems in His crown of glory, that’s one thing. When we want to make gems of each other, we are owning anothers body, it’s oppressive. It’s another example of how mankind still seeks equality with God. It’s like cloaning, stem cell research and prostitution.
“Lady’s and gentlemen, here is a Henry. He was a wonderful, loving, kind and generous father, husband, son and brother in life, but look how he sparkles in death. Who will give me $1000?”
Sorry Scout, no dice. Was the BVM any less holy after Jesus was born? Is the Tabernacle a worthless shell during communion? Our eternal souls have sanctified our bodies, and consecrated them to the Lord.A person’s body is the temple of the Holy Spirit while that person is alive. No, slavery isn’t okay with me because the body still contains the soul and spirit, and it is enslaving the soul and spirit along with the body. And it isn’t the same as stem-cell research, cloning or prostitution. Those souls still inhabit their bodies. In the case of life-gems, the souls have inhabited the bodies and have now departed.
And the gem isn’t “Henry” or anyone else, for that matter. “Henry” is dead. The body doesn’t make up the person. It’s just the “box” the person is contained in while alive on earth. After that, it’s pretty useless.

No, Our Mother wasn’t less holy after Jesus’ birth because her soul was still in her body. When the host is outside the Tabernacle, then yes, it’s just a small building.Sorry Scout, no dice. Yes, our eternal souls have sanctified our bodies, but it is the soul that sanctifies the body, not the body that sanctifies the soul. The soul is more important. And if the earthly body were just as important as the soul, then why would we need new bodies when we got to heaven?
