Limited Atonement, is it Biblical?

James assumes the Gospel of Grace. I would say that if you are having a problem with Scripture, the problem does not lie with the Scriptures. šŸ˜‰

Abraham, who lived before the law, nevertheless lived it: in faith. That is why he is ā€œour father in faith.ā€ His faith was a working faith. Cf. Mt 25.
You can’t do it, can you?

I don’t think you can proclaim the gospel according to the Roman Catholic Church through the 13 Epistles of Paul.

I don’t think you can proclaim the gospel according to the Roman Catholic Chruch through the letter of James.

I don’t think you can proclaim the gospel according to the Roman Catholic Church through the letters of Peter.

Give it a try because we are running out of Apostles. Maybe you can invent new Apostles to support what you believe…just a joke. šŸ˜‰

I can do all things through Christ who strenghtens me!

Great point, how do we reconcile Paul with James? Paul and James both use justification in different applications. We have an apparent contradiction.
No, you have an apparent contradiction. Catholics do not. Nothing you’ve in Pauls writings support the new age (in light of 1500 years of Christian history) idea of ā€œfaith alone.ā€
Paul and James speak of the same justification - the same process.
You have applied a man-made theology to Scripture, which forces you to over-accentuate some excerpts from Scripture and reduce other book to *de facto * secondary status.
For instance:
You cannot use one small Epistle of James to change what Paul writes in 1/2 of the New Testament. I’m not sure James even proclaims the gospel in his Epistle. What is the gospel according to James, can you even develop one from the book of James? I love the book of James and is it completely complimentary to the 13 Epsitles of Paul in the right context. If you want to understand the gospel fo God’s grace, you need to understand Paul.
I thank God the Catholic Church is about the Gospel of the Word, Jesus Christ, as opposed to your theology of the Gospel of Paul.
The entire book of James is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. How can you separate any of the epistles from the Gospel?

I’m sorry, you must have slipped as you typed…let me help you:

Whle blustering may indeed be a viable tactic for others with whom you debate, we actually demand support for your assertions; I understand your frustration as we present the Scriptures to you, but surely you are better than school-yard bluffing!

So call me humorless. But I have no idea what you are getting at. I really do not see your point.

What do you make of these verses? Romans 10:10 for it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth what you confess and are saved Now lets see what we are to confess and believe in order that we might be saved. Romans 10 :9 If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is lord and believe in your heart that he rose from the dead you WILL BE SAVED. also there is Romans 10:12 For there is no difference between gentile and Jew the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses ALL who call on him 13 All who call on the name of the Lord will be saved. Deb, the posts above yours here are discussing those who hear the Good News but do NOT confess Christ, who do NOT call on Him.

And as Reformed gently pointed out to you up thread, Scripture is saturated with references to much that is not contained even in the richly consoling ā€œRoman Roadā€ – none of which may be ignored by one who loves Christ with his whole heart.

Everybody believes in a form of limited atonement or particular atonement unless you believe in universalism.
This is another logical error. It is amazing, when there is so much thinking going on in your sect, that there are so many of these! Don’t any from your group study logic?
Do you think all individuals will be saved from the wrath of God and enter Heaven?
No.
If you answer no, you believe in a form of limited atonement.
No. Christ died in atonement for all. Not all avail themselves of His atonement. We can see this in the foreshadowing of the Passover. Some chose to disobey, and did not cover the lintels of their doors with the blood. The angel of death took all the firstborn who were not covered by the blood.
The atonement is universal in one hand, but limited in another. Roman Catholicism does not teach that all mankind will be saved. Therefore, Rome too teaches both this universal and limited concept of atonement.
It is not the atonement that is limited, but those who refuse to accept it exclude themselves from it.
