How did you come to this conclusion?
Not to answer for @Julius_Caesar, but those that hold that James and the others are half-siblings of Jesus usually rely on the Protoevengalium of James as their source. It is non-canonical and sort of a prequel to the Gospels.

I am aware that the Eastern Church’s believe that Joseph was married before.
The four mentioned are sons of Joseph father of Christ.
I really found this an odd way to express it. Joseph is not the father of Christ but the Step Father. The four mentioned are shown to have other parents. So I wondered why?

It is also the oldest of the three theories. As far as anyone knows, the “stepbrothers” theory went unchallenged for several centuries. It wasn’t until the pontificate of Damasus 1 (366-384) that both Jerome and Helvidius proposed their alternative explanations, which were both entirely new at the time.

And you can verify that.
No need. Now, again, for the 5th time, did the Eastern Orthodox just assume both Alphaeus’s are one and the same? If not, what is the basis for their conclusion?

I am wrong he was not the step father but the foster father.
Luke 3:23
He was the son, as was thought, of Joseph, the son of Heli,

Luke does not call Him Jesus’ father but says what was thought to be true. People assumed that He was Jesus’ natural father. We know differently. You know differently. I don’t know of any faith that says Joseph is the father and not the foster father.

You didn’t see this verse then?

And his father and his mother marveled at what was said about him;
Luke 2:33 RSV-CI

Again for all legal intents he was.

Yes Luke refers to him as Jesus’ father. I don’t believe Luke ever called Joseph the Christ’s father. However, I am surprised you did as we know Joseph was the foster-father.
