Listening to Music During Adoration?

Hi CC1. I’m just grateful that you attend Adoration. My church struggles to fill our time slots. Adoration is my favorite time of the week with the Lord. I listen to the same music as you and feel it brings glory, praise and honor to Jesus. I have all of my prayers loaded on my iPad, so I’m already using an electronic device to enhance my worship. If you’re spending time in Adoration, I don’t see how listening to those artists is wrong. Some of those songs are much more succinct in what I want to say to the Lord than I could ever be. I am also relieved to know that others cry during Adoration. We are all there for the same reason; to draw closer to the Lord. I can honestly say that I am so engulfed in prayer that I have no idea what is going on around me. God bless!

To each his own. I myself prefer quiet Adoration, so I can hear God speak to me. God bless.

If I rememebr right Fr. John is saying this in the context of being with a really close friend and just not doing anything. Not even talking maybe, just being together, being present. He certainly didn’t mean it to be offensive, and Fr. John is probably my favorite priest out there (also helps we’re both from the Mitten).
