LITTLE BOY Shares Heart & Love in Believing!
Salvati as Pepper is endearing, adorable, and heartbreaking to watch. Wrestling with a height deficiency, it is the relationship between Pepper and his father that moves this young man to such extraordinary lengths. Each step he takes moves Pepper higher and as Hashimoto says – making him the tallest kid ever. The adults and town kids around Pepper don’t understand the trials of this boy yet Salvanti’s portrayal of this young man will easily soften the hardest heart.

Tagawa as Hashimoto is absolutely amazing. Hashimoto is a man who knows how the town sees him yet there is a gentleness mixed with his own life sadness. Tagawa gives this character a gracefulness necessary to reach into the heart of a sad little boy. In the midst of it all, Tagawa’s performance also shares with the audience the deep ability to forgive.

Watson as Emma shows such amazing strength and depth of a wife and mother trying to be strong for her family. There is a moment she breaks and it breaks Pepper’s heart to see it. Yep, that got me! Rapaport has a smaller role but amazingly important as the connection between father-son is believable from the moment he and Salvati are on screen together and carry to the end.

Saw it at movie theater. It was excellent and so upbeat. This was made by the same director(Alejandro Gómez Monteverde) who made" Bella".

It involves a catholic priest who gives a young boy a list to do.

Heard the movie was not getting good reviews I guess because of his pro life views.

Why do you only hope? GO! It needs support, desperately. If the box office returns are as low as last week’s it will surely disappear from theaters. MAKE TIME to see it in theaters now! FIND MONEY to do it! If you find this absolutely impossible, then tell a friend about it, and please use Netflix or another DVD/streaming service to watch it as soon as it’s released on disc.

This film needs and deserves support, especially from Christians. It was made for Catholics to see. This is not a Hollywood film, this is an independent Catholic Christian film.

I am not even sure it is showing in my small town.
I will have to check and see.

Hmm, small town. That’s a rough one. What this requires is usually some advance planning, for a good sized group of Christians to make a road trip, either carpooling and/or caravan. It would be totally worthwhile to do this sort of thing. I don’t know if you are into it, but you should at least check around to see if there is any interest, or perhaps already a plan, to do such a thing.
 
Pro life groups such as Students for Life of America are encouraging people to see it today…its in danger of being kicked out of the theatre due to low ticket sales (it opened 13th on the first weeekend)

Asking honestly and respectfully: How are people hearing about movies like this? I had no idea this movie was even out. Much like “Child 44” (which inexplicably attracted numerous comments on its own thread), I do not recall hearing or seeing any ads for it. How have people heard about this “Little Boy” movie? I routinely hear ads for ‘faith-based’ movies on Glenn Beck’s radio show - yet, I didn’t hear anything on Beck’s show about ‘Little Boy.’

Open Road is a good, reliable distributor, so if they’re attached to its distribution, there’s a good chance it is showing in your neighborhood. Only problem is, if publicity is practically non-existent - and the movie’s opening opposite “The Avengers”? 🤷

I learned about this move from this forum and then noted it was listed at one theater in a nearby city.

I hope to see it Tuesday. If I had not read about it here I doubt I would have known about it for I have heard no one speak much of it in “real life.”

MR: Bullying is such a topic nowadays. When I was a kid, it wasn’t something that was in the forefront. When I was a kid the mentality was “Only the strong survive.” In this day and age – and I think it’s a good side of political correctness – it’s a whole different thing. We’re exposed to a lot more because of the cameras and the Internet. If I videotaped my childhood, I would be an Internet sensation. In this film, I think the anti-bullying message is very timely and it’s done in a very genuine way.

Little Boy is getting bullied by the local kids because they think he’s easy prey. Then my two sons start bullying Hashimoto. Everybody is doing it and having it done to them. Unfortunately it’s a part of human nature. I think the discussion is good. People are becoming more aware. This thing about this movie is that it’s a timeless movie. All the messages that it integrates into one story will span the test of time.

The critics reviews on Rotten Apple have been very bad. See there is another thread on this.

They are not. I saw it on a billboard in my local area and had no clue what it was so I did not go until I just recently caught Glen Beck and he did a promotion of the movie. By then the movie left my area and I am sure that it why Mojo Box office is reporting only 4 million at theaters which is an extremely small amount and what will happen is that theaters won’t pick it up.

The critics have killed it on Rotten Apple.

Looked and looked and could not find a thread on it… Thanks for bringing this thread back.

I kind of disagree that it is a movie about faith because then people think of it as a low budget Hallmark Channel type movie… It is not. It could be a catholic movie or a Christian movie but it is more a movie that showcases some values.

Who would promote it. The movie Sniper was promoted but it was a military movie so I think that is easier to promote.

This is a catholic movie and controversial because of the atomic bomb name so the movie industry hates it.

It cost $20 million to make but has only taken in $4 million. Ouch.
