I don’t think that we ever really leave the SELF behind. Rather, we bring the SELF along and offer it, honestly, wherever it may be.

We offer our sacrifices along side our Lord’s Great Sacrifice. So not giving into Self would be part of of the sacrifices we offer. Leaving self at the door --would be offering the focus on Self as part of our sacrifices.

You know, I think that I behave quite well in Church. I do get annoyed sometimes when IO can’t hear the priest over the children but that has as much to do with acoustics as the kids. I have glared at people before but only when they are really behaving badly. And a glare usually works. I tend to position myself away from any known noisy people. I made my kids behave in Church so others can too. I don’t have the monopoly on parenting skills. Anyway, I don’t get angry on the whole because I am generally a peaceful person. Any standards I would expect from others I would ensure that I could match them first.

I am not disputing that—I whole heartedly agree.
