To a degree I agree but not so much about memorials and solemnities as these are fairly regular and memorials represent only a small departure from the Weekday where parts are not Proper (I usually on depart from the weekday on the Gospel Canticle antiphon and of course the Proper concluding prayer). Solemnities are usually always all Proper and Common so we usually have no trouble there too.About 15 years ago, I taught and ran a Sunday Evening Prayer(Vespers), during Lent, in my parish.
Lent uses the same prayers for Sunday so it was easy to just make copies of the prayers and hand them out to those who didn’t have breviaries.
Anyway, I started with about 20 people, and ended up with 6 in the end. All six people purchased their own breviaries, and they still continue to pray the LOTH"s on a daily basis.
It doesn’t take years to learn, but it takes a** least a year to get the complete understanding of how the memorials and solemnities work.**
The best way to learn in my opinion, is to do it with a group that knows how.
Either way, its a rich treasure that will benefit you in your spiritual journey.

However, it does take a year to experience fancy stuff like the Octave of Easter, Octave of Christmas, and the odd propers during the weekdays between Jan 1 and Epiphany, and Epiphany through the Baptism of the Lord.
