At 3 p.m., Sunday, May 18th, the Catholic Archdiocese of Detroit marks its 175th anniversary with a Mass of celebration and thanksgiving at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral.
Cardinal Adam Maida, archbishop of Detroit, is the principal celebrant and is joined by a number of local clergy. The music will reflect various ethnic groups resident in the Detroit archdiocese; a procession of nations with representatives in native dress will signify the “unity-in-diversity” in the church’s faith heritage.
