I believe in the Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. I believe in all She teachers. I value all the Sacraments. God has been so good to me all my life. And my life has not always been easy but I see Gods grace runs all though it. Hardest was a 20 year difficult marraige to a man who could never love. Then the divorce and custody battle and starting life as a single Mom totally unprepared and all the practical challenges. I think I certainly had some kind of PTSD from that. The Sacraments and frequent Mass and Adoration got me through the most difficult parts. [My first apartment as a single Mom, a half a house in a good village neighborhood, the one with the landlords from hell, was a short block and a half from a Catholic Church, and I was able to go to Daily Mass often).

There were more life challenges but I got to a point where I really thought I was fine, and felt as I do now, too, much gratitude for ALL of my trials which had made me run to the Lord, and *“Trust in Him”. Without the trials I would never have learned the most valuable lesson of my life - that I truly can trust God!

Yes, I thought I was fine but when my severely traumatized friend bailed on the healing ministry I had arranged to take her to, I felt God call me to take her place. I was so surprised. In a practically audible (but not) inner voice, He said to me: “I love you, too. Don’t you want to be whole?” I was so surprised because I thought I* was* whole, but just then, I realized I was not whole, that I still needed mending. So I went, and God did make me whole and new. It amazes me sometimes that I have the difficult past, but none of the pain from it anymore. God truly does make all things new.

Then I immediately met a man I had been corresponding with as friends for some years. I meant to meet as just friends; I had made up my mind to avoid any future marriage, since I had chosen so wrong the first time. But I fell in love hard and fast. God in a clear way helped me see that this was okay with Him.

There is so much I could say about this but to make it short I will just say we have both been chaste within our marriages and then out of them, for many many years and have not have other relations. I thought I woudl be a nun someday and he a monk. So this took us both by surprise. But we feel very called to be together forever. We are so drawn to each other, so at peace whenever we are together, we can talk about all things - its awesome

We will marry as soon as we can, just short of a year at the earliest. But we have obstacles to overcome first which we are working on. So we follow the rules of Our Holy Mother the Church meantime.

We are in differnt states and we get together for a week or two usually at a time, with a month or two or three or four in between. We are in separate states. Normally I have gone to his home, where we work very hard on his house to prepare it to sell, and I sleep in his son’s room (adult son, moved out) and his adult daughter is almost always there (or about to bust in the door) and often her toddler and so we are well chaperoned. He only came here for the first time at Christmastime and my teen son is here so we are well chaperoned here too.

Originally when I visited him I stayed at a nearby Catholic retreat house but that was an expense and we are both on snug budgets. I realized we are about never alone (as I described above) anyway.

However we are drawn to being alone and drawn to each other and we do find our times, and are only all too aware of them when the “chaperons” step out. They don’t know we call them “chaperons” or even that we need them for that. Its like living two-faced, we want very much to have proper, non-scandalous behavior in front of our offspring and anyone else but when we are alone we cannot wait to snuggle and hug, and though we have some limits, but we do “forget” in the moment and go beyond what anyone would call chaste behavior. We go to confession, and that helps, but it is a constant struggle particularly for me to ask myself if I am truly intending in the future to avoid all near occasion of sin.

With another visit coming up next month I am asking God to help me with my firm resolve.

And I am asking others for a pep talk. I cannot believe I am so Catholic and have so much resolve to do things God’s way but find myself telling myself that “God understands” and “maybe its not such a big deal”. Maybe its not but I know that God will give me the grace to do all He asks. And He has given me so much, it makes me feel ashamed I woudl bulk when He asks a little.

I don’t want to be ashamed when I receive the great blessing of the Marraige Sacrament that I have opened a hoard of the wedding presents before the wedding…

Yet I see others happily enjoying their boyfriends in the married sense and I feel envious and stymied. So I need a pep talk to help me along a bit. 😊

So, why am I doing this? Please remind me!

Because it’s worth the wait! I wish I did. Don’t do something you’ll regret and NEVER do something you wouldn’t want your kids to know you did! You are still a role model.

I ruined a good relationship by being intimate outside of marriage. I compromised who I really am and want to be and my relationship with my God. Once I compromised I spun out of control. I did not have the strength of a healthy relationship with God to sustain a healthy relationship with the man I loved. It was my relationship with God that made me a confident woman and compromising that relationship stole my confidence, the very thing that attracted my boyfriend to me. The relationship ultimately failed DEVASTATINGLY!

I learned my lesson. With my next boyfriend we remained pure and now we are married. If you love him and the gift of your relationship, do not compromise! God is jealous and will have no other God’s before Him. I learned this the hard way.

If you firmly believe that he is the one, and he believes you are the one…why wait?
All you need is a priest and 2 witnesses.
I wish we had done this, now we have out of town guests, halls and the works.

Yes, he is worth the wait. And we are waiting, its just that sometimes when we are alone its a huge stretch to call our time chaste. We have confessed, with intention to sin no more, then we find ourselves slipping in the same direction later.

Yes, I do not want to do things I regret and Lady Love, this is a good reminder, “God is jealous and will have no other God’s before Him.” That is what I am doing, I wil remind myself.

Yes, all we need is a priest and any two witnesses and though a small simple intimate wedding celebration would be nice, we are ready to forego that too when his annulment goes through. We are counting on that, it seems his reason is solid. So we wait.

When we are alone I desire to show him my passion in embraces. I like to enjoy his embraces. Then we get carried away.:o

Too much time spent in each other’s company alone! You’re putting yourself into temptation territory! You recognize the sound of cracking ice, though! That is a good thing. Rearrange your visits so you aren’t alone together and in temptation-land! When you start to go off in that direction, GET OUT of his house!!

I sure hope the annulment comes through soon!

Good advice, to get out of the house. However! We live in different states and visit at each other’s homes and there is nowhere to go. At each others houses, as I said, we are almost always “chaperoned” (by “chaperons” - our offspring - who have no idea how much we need their “interfering” presence!).

I was only going to see him two weeks between January and July. That’s two weeks in six months! My school breaks, Feb. and April. I dread the long separations, because I am so totally happy and at peace being just in the same room with him and sort of lost when he is a state away. He is the same way. It really is like we are supposed to be together. August to December was forever! But since we keep “slipping” (he keeps reminding me that we have never slipped so far as the first time we slipped, since we do make effort to avoid sin occasions) I was relieved to anticipate being away from the occasion of sin that long.

But we realized if I drove there he could come back with me and take the train back, and stay on an extra week or two here, since its a huge help with care expenses for my Mom. We need to save expenses to make a future. We are constantly working on that! Also, he helps me here in many ways and I have loved having help, doing everything on my own for so long, so much caretaking with no help. On top of that, after I leave him I am really down for a long time after. A long time. When he is here, he helps me with everything and my work and my sleep goes better because things are running smoother with all the help. Its so nice. And again, just being in the same room makes us both happy.

So that means more time here in my home. We are almost always in the presence of others. But not always. So i am planning ahead, to make sure that I have it set in my mind why I am chaste.

Because I want to do what God wants even when it doesn’t make sense to me. And I need His help in so many ways to make our lives coming together work. So I can give Him the one small thing He asks of me. Just a little self-control…

Get a BIG picture of Jesus in every room of each house.

Big crucifixes. Statues. Icons. Especially the Sacred Heart picture. Just SATURATE your houses with Jesus! He’s your main chaperone. When you start to be tempted just look at Him.

Good advice realJ. It is hard, I live in my FH house and it is getting harder and harder as the wedding date gets closer. I can relate with you Eliza 10, at least you have kids in the house.

Wow, Ruthcloud, you live with him unchaperoned? How can you stay apart?? At night? Don’t you have another choice? Also there is the whole “scandal” thing. My sweetheart points out we are not famous, but God says woe unto him who causes even one of his little ones to sin. Its not like I can announce to everyone who doesn’t care who that “I am chaste! At least pretty chaste almost all the time! Compared to the usual!” LOL. But if one young person in the same dilemma could see us, assuming all this togetherness means we are together all the way, and say to themselves, “This chastity thing is too hard. And they are real Catholic and they are fine even though they (apparently) gave in”. So I worry about that. I just want to get this time over with. How long til your wedding??
