Hello all,

As many of you know, my name is John Monaco. I’m 16, and going to be a senior in high school this fall. Ever since a young age, I have always yearned for the priesthood, however recently I have been taking an interest in orders, and not just the diocesan. I contacted three that have interested me, but I’m looking for the one that perfectly suits what I feel is best for me. So far I have contacted

1.) Jesuits

2.) Marians of the Immaculate Conception- marian.org/index.php?s=1

3.) The Capuchins

I’m not dissatisified with these orders, however I’m favoring the Marians of the Immauclate Conception. Is there another order that devotes to Mary, and is known for their missionary work?

Pax et Bonum,

John Monaco

You might try here…marianist.com/. Our parish was run for years by the Marionists priests and brothers. It wasn’t until recently that it became staffed by diocesean priests.

A great favorite of mine is the order of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. They are VERY Marian and are devoted to Mary because of their brotherhood. If I was a man, they’d be my very first choice:

franciscanfriars.com/

I would also highly recommend the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate:

marymediatrix.com/

They use the formula for Total Consecration to Mary as written by St. Maximillian Kolbe. 😃

I also did a search on religiouslife.com for Marian orders for men, and here are the results:

Canons Regular of the Immaculate Conception
cricusa.com/

Order of Our Lady of Mercy
orderofmercy.org/

Hope this helps! God bless!

Hey John,

Thank you so much for your generosity in responding to God’s call, and thanks to all those who have offered him communities to look at. I can’t help but mention my own community which is dedicated to the New Evangelization, and especially to the formation of a new generation of saints who will transform this world. At the same time, we look to Mary as the Giver of Life. I know that it’d mean having to learn Italian, but being able to receive your formation in Rome is hard to beat. Feel free to check us out at

and may God bless you on your journey into the mystery of Christ’s priesthood!

Father Corapi always likes to kid that his mama wears combat boots as he holds up the rosary as his weapon of choice.
Try his website www.fathercorapi.com and see if he has any advice for you. The name of his order is Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity. He has many DVD’s and CD’s on his website that might interest you. He did one presentation called “Total Consecration to Jesus Through Mary” and he presently has a special on his website entitled, “Priest and Seminarian Retreat”.

John, I’ll put in my recommendation that you consider the Order of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St. Teresa of Jesus (the Discalced Carmelites):

ocdfriarsvocation.com/

God bless you in your discernment.

John,

I recently received a packet of information in the mail from an order based in Boston, MA that is centered on the Eucharist and devoted to Mary and all faithful to the Magisterium. I think you should check them out. I am very interested in their charism “working toward a rebirth of spirituality in today’s world”. They pay very close attention to the signs of the times (Luke 12:56). They are called: The Oblates of the Virgin Mary

*There are many (that I have seen but need some time to look at the official names)

Some additional ones that come to mind are:
  1. Dominicans
  2. Franciscans
  3. Oblates of Mary Imaculate (OMI)
  4. Norbetines
5)Carmelites
  1. Fr Corapis order…
Hope that others will post also… who knows how many there are. Also remember that any religious man or woman will have a devotion to Mary, most priests or relgious never tire of telling people about how Mary helps them in their vocation.
I hope this helps a bit?? Blessings of Peace and All Good! *

Companions of the Cross up here in Canada are a Marian order as well, I might be a bit biased towards them since I was with them for a while, but it might be worth checking out.

Hi John - Thank you so much for wanting to be a priest and at the same time wanting to honor Our Lady! How wonderful - you’ve made my day.

My husband and I enjoyed visiting a Redemptorish church last week. After Mass, the priest gave each person a special blessing for the intercession of Our Blessed Mother. Their priests are very devoted to Mary.

redemptoristkc.org/

I love all priests, but I especially love those who are devoted to Our Lady!

When I hear the words “missionary” and “Mary” and “vocation” the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI) immediatly come to mind. Just google 'em and check them out.

I was educated at the University of Dayton, in Dayton, Ohio
We were taught by the Society of Mary (SM) priests and bothers and they were great…
Give them a call at the University of DAyton… Don iannu

Hello John, No.1) Ask Our Lady to guide you
Google Our Lady of LaSalette Shrine: This order evolved due to an
Apparition of Our Lady at LaSalette in France. They are a Missionary
order that serves in many countries. God Bless, nannyma

Hello John, First, ask Our Lady for guidance. There is an order which was founded after an Apparition of Our Lady in LaSalette,France. The charism of this order, which is missionary from it’s beginning, is reconciliation. A web site is: http://lasalette-shrine.org> God Bless, nannyma

Although not a missionary order, one of the greatest Marian traditions is within the Servites (Order of the Servants of Mary). They are one of the oldest orders as well (one of the original five mendicant orders of the 1200s, along with the Franciscans, Dominicans, Carmelites, and Augustinians).

I don’t know if there are missionary Servites, but there may well be. If you feel a special bond with Mary, I would definitely read up on the Servites regardless.
