My mother has colon cancer and dementia and the hospice nurses didn’t think she’d make it to the end of the month.

My brother arrived from the Army from Germany last night but she is already unresponsive and not eating, so it will be sometime in the next few days that we will lose her. My father passed on Christmas Eve about 16 years ago.

I’m sorry. I know your pain,😦 and if there’s anything I can do…please let me know…feel free to pm me. I give you my prayers. Losing parents is so hard…no matter their age.

Praying

I will pray that her death is peaceful–and for peace for you and your brother.

God Bless you, Dear. I lost my father to cancer 20 years ago. It’s not easy, but at least I still have my mother.

I guess I haven’t written much about it because I really didn’t know what to say…

Our Thanksgiving was spent at the Nursing Home wondering if my brother would make it in time. Thankfully, he did, but unfortunately she has not been responsive since. Now she is on morphine sulfate and oxygen.

I guess my prayer is this will end soon and she can be free to go…the suffering has been tremendous this year not only for her but for us all…

Praying for her and you too… I hope she is being made as comfortable as possible too…

Yes, I signed her up for Hospice last Thanksgiving when she had the surgery that found the colon cancer and that it had spread to three other organs. They’ve been there for us for the past year, and now are on round=the=clock crisis care. I’m so thankful they are helping us.

Elizabeth, I’m glad you’ve had your brother around, at least for a while. It sounds like a very painful time for you, and you’ve already been through a lot with loss of your Dad and your mother’s illness.
I’ll keep you in my prayers. God bless you Love,

Trishie

May God grant peace to your mother soon and consolation to you and your family. :console:

I will keep all of you in my prayers. I am blessed to still have both of my parents and my husband still has both of his!

May God grant your mother a peaceful death and may you all have His consolation in this time of waiting.

Prayers for your dear mother, you , and all your family. How wonderful that your brother made it home. Remember that the sense of hearing is the last to go, so even though your mother seems unresponsive, she may still be able to hear when you (all) talk to her. The Divine Mercy chaplet is especially efficacious when recited in the presence of the dying.

Peace,
Linda

I’m so sorry. I can’t imagine how painful that must be. I’ll pray for you and your mother.

Thank you so much everyone…it’s been a long day. She is still with us.

Thank you for your prayers.

My heart goes out to you. My dear mother passed away on November 12,2008. The whole family was at her bed side when she took her last breath. I would sit at my mother’s bedside everyday and say Rosaries and recite the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy, where Jesus promised he would stand between the dying person and the person reciting it. This gave me great comfort. I will pray that Jesus and Our Lady take your mother in their arms. If there is anything I can do please let me know.

I’m SO sorry! This is very hard, I know. And the time of year is not the best for this. I lost my father 24 years ago this month. And now, my MIL is dying of Lekemia. She, too, may not make it to Christmas.

My only advice is to remember that we all will die, but the opportunity to be with Him is a great benefit to those we love. In a short time (on Earth) we may have the opportunity to be with them again for eternity.

Tell her how much you love her even if you are not sure she hears you. She likely may. Take time to be with her and remember, it’s not over when one dies. Life just takes on new meaning. Yes, we all miss those that depart from this life. And it’s good to greive. But the good memories can last you a lifetime and they are great to have!

Peace to you and I pray you will find comfort, soon!

We went through this with my mother in 2006. I know there are no words I can give you to ease your pain.
I remember the day my mother passed. We were turning off all the machines, my father in a last second attempt to hang on to her let them hook her up to life support, but she was gone…We were getting ready to go, I was reflecting on my life with her and the woman that she was and then it hit me, she was going to be with Jesus. I was excited for her, she was going to be with Jesus that day and as much as I knew I would miss her, I also knew how excited she must have been. Getting to be with the Lord that she loved her whole life. My husband said how blessed we are to have our faith in God to help us through losing those we love. We are able to see past the pain and see the beauty of passing from this life into the next.
Being with her when she died, being able to hold her hand as she left us and went to the open arms of Christ is something I will never forget. I consider it a blessing to be able to be with her then.
I will never stop missing her, but I know that she is watching my family and holding our baby in Heaven.
I’m glad your brother is with you. Lean on each other during this time.
I pray for the peace that only our Lord can give to you and your family at this time.
