As we’ve been watching it, I mentioned how some of the shockers like Locke’s story - how different it is knowing. Remember the shock when you found out about Locke? Or when you found out what Sun can do? Or even watching some of the ‘scary’ scenes where it isn’t scary anymore. We were watching ‘The Confidence Man’ last night (episode 8 I think) and there’s a part where Locke uses Charlie as bait for a boar. Charlie hears stuff and starts running like crazy and they show it in slow-motion. It just doesn’t have the same impact knowing that it’s a boar.

We’ll pause it and look at one another and say “remember how scary that was” or “wow, remember what a shock that was”.

I don’t know if I’m going to watch the episode tonite or not. I’d like to watch all of Season 1 first. But that might take over a week. So we’ll see.

My husband and I just watched the first 4 episodes from Netflicks. We LOVED it. I am so bummed that the new season starts tonight because we wanted to get through the entire first season before we got into the 2nd. Don’t you think we’ll be clueless about some of the story lines if we don’t??

I can’t understand how any of them survived that plane crash though… it looked like they literally dive bombed out of the sky. But then again, they ended up on a tropical island inhabited by polar bears so I suppose anything is possible. After 4 episodes I have to ask… What is knocking down all the trees - and making all that noise? Also, the girl who’s friends w/ the doctor… what did she do that was so terrible the federal agent tracked her down in another country??? Are we ever told?

Carol Marie,

The season finale ended on a cliffhanger of sorts. Two really. And what you’re going to see tonite will have nothing to do with what you’ve seen so far. So yeah, I think you’re going to be real clueless about what is going on.

As far as how any of them survived, Sayid talks about it a bit in the episode I watched last night - but that was episode 8 I think.

As far as the friend of the doctor’s - Kate - there’s another episode devoted to her (like the one you watched - 3?) that gives you more information, but asks more questions.

In fact, that’s one of the things about the first season. For every question it answers, it seems to ask like 10-20 more!

I didn’t know you could get the episodes on Netflix. Is it individual episodes or do they have a Season 1 DVD?

If you have all the episodes and the time, I’d recommend taping the episode tonite (or it’ll be on the internet in a day) and watching an episode a night. My wife and I have been watching 2 episodes a night - takes about an hour and 30 minutes.

We’ve seen them all though so she’s going to watch it tonite. I’m going to probably keep watching season 1 and then watch tonites.

They are showing a special “recap” show right before the season premier tonight…it should be helpful to those of you who missed episodes from the first season and to others (like myself) that just have very bad memories, lol.

Wow.

All I can say is this: WOW.

Huge shockers throughout the season premiere tonight; I just finished watching it! 😃

I can’t wait for next week…

P.S. How many of you got the sense of deja vu in regards to the quarantine thing? Reminds me of the famous Greek myth of Pandora’s box…especially how the show went to a flashback of Jack’s life, where he talks about false hope…

It’s not Ian again, is it? I couldn’t tell… 😦
That guy is the one Jack was talking to when he fell runnign the stairs at the stadium

That who I thought it was… but how strange is THAT???

How do they expect me to wait an entire WEEK in suspense?

I agree - WOW!

When I got home I had decided to watch it since it would probably be spoiled somehow via co-workers, t.v., radio, etc.

And my wife was itching for me to watch it so she could get my reaction.

Wow.

When it first started, I thought it was one of those flashbacks. I was trying to figure out who it was. It didn’t seem to be anyone. It could’ve been Sawyer except for the hair.

And then when the record skipped, it took my 2 seconds and then I paused it and said to my wife - it’s a dude in the hatch, isn’t it? She just smiled and said “you’ll see”. 🙂

We rewatched parts of it after I had seen the whole thing. There were several things that struck me about the hatch. The first was in the opening scenes it seemed like sunlight coming in a window. That and the big glass room at the end.

The next dawned on me as we were watching him type. You couldn’t tell at first what he was typing because it wasn’t focused on the keys. But then I realized that he was only typing numbers. Hmmmm. What numbers could those be? So we watched again and even though you can’t see the actual numbers, you can tell by the sequence that he types a number (top) then space (bottom) and then a number (top) and then a space (bottom) and then 2 numbers! See the pattern? 4 8 15 16 23 48

HELLO?!?!

OK… now I’m LOST (ha! no pun intended!)

What’s with the numbers… I don’t get it??? And how could he have been the guy down there in the hatch the whole time and ALSO the guy who was running??? (Or was that "flashback - running thing from years ago?) I have a hard time with the time frames.

Has anybody stopped to consider that *two *people who were paralyzed are cured: Locke and the woman in the hospital? And isn’t that woman Jack’s fiancee from an earlier episode?

Another interesting thing–the song played last night was “Make Your Own Kind of Music” by Mama Cass. It came out in 1969. And you’ll notice it was on an LP, not a CD. In fact, all the equipment down the hatch seems to come from the late Sixties or early Seventies (notice the computers). Just how long has this guy been down that hatch? Surely he’s not old enough to have been down there over thirty years. And if he ran into Jack in the stadium, he couldn’t have been there that long, could he?

But then, that leads to the problem of when the hatch was constructed–which by all indications seems to be at the latest in the early Seventies. Could we possibly have a case of identical twins, one of whom lives down the hatch while the other is the one Jack saw in the stadium?

That’s the one thing my wife noted - she said it seemed like a time capsule from around then.

Don’t forget the lava lamp too!

You’ll have to wait two weeks, because next week covers the survivors of the raft.

I hope they all are alive. The ones on the raft are among the best characters. Wasn’t that scary when Walt appeared in the woods to Shannon. It first looked as if he was angry, then you could see he was terrified and soaking wet. And those whispers…weird, huh?

I started off really enjoying the show. But it got too frustrating. Not enough answers, way too many questions. I just got the feeling that the payoff will not be worth all the time invested in watching it anymore. So Im dedicating my time to other things for now. (But I still keep up with occasional updates.) 🙂

Someone on a LOST forum played Walt’s whispers backwards. he says “don’t touch the button, the button is bad.”

I wish Shannon would get “lost.” I think her character rots. Worthless and weak! Anybody else find her annoying?

Otherwise I do love the show. I think the guy on the studium steps (Ian I think another poster said) is the same guy as in the capsule. I think the meeting on the stadium steps was part of Jack’s subconscience, not reality. I think things were eating at him so bad that he dreamed up this guy to counsel him, or someone evil placed him there.

I also think that the little boy is the only “innocent” in the group, thus the big interest from his captors - sort of like sacrificing a virgin?

I have to watch this show alone since DH travels - like this thread, I actually get to talk about this cool show! Now if 24 would start, I’d be really happy!

Hi!

The guy from the stadium said his name was Desmond. I think some people are confusing this guy with Ethan Rom (there was no Ian that I recall), the character that Charlie supposedly killed last year.

Does anyone know if there is a synopsis of the last episode anywhere? I have been looking forward to seeing it all summer and then missed it due to Rita.😦
